Hey Jaki,
I've been noticing some wierd noise coming from the rear when I push the clutch in reverse. Do you get any wierd noises when depressing the clutch or moving slow?

I have that rear axle clicking noise thats a TSB. I've had it long time now (from way back when I had the stock exhaust), just haven't taken it to the dealer to get it fixed yet. Well I took it once, but they didn't have the parts. However, it seems like it might've stopped, because I haven't heard it in a while... not sure though, I'll take it to the dealer anyways sometimes. You might want to stop by a mod friendly dealer in your area and let them see if thats the axle clicking thing that you hear, even though that was just mostly on '03's.

Well it's wierd because it only started happening after I installed the HKS. It's kinda like a vibrating noise coming from the rear when I push the clutch in going in reverse.

hmm... if you can, go under the car and check to see if maybe one of the pipes is leaning against your sway bar. Exhausts vibrate a little when air flows through them, so may be one of the pipes (the one that goes above the sway bar) is vibrating against your sway bar. But then you should hear it whenever the car is on and whenever you give it gas and such, not just when you press the clutch and go in reverse. Kinda weird... but anyways, if it is touching (or even if its not... it might touch it when it vibrates a little) against the sway bar, try putting a cloth (or something soft) in between the pipe and the sway bar, and and then press the clutch and put in reverse and drive it around a little. If the noise is gone, than that means that pipe was rubbing against the swaybar. If its still there, then you can eliminate that.

If it ends up that its the pipe rubbing against the sway bar, then take it back to the shop that did the install and see if they can move or turn it a little so that its farther away from the sway bar.

You know after it's been installed since Friday, I feel the car is pulling harder especially in 2nd gear. It still puts a grin on my face when I step on it. :-)

No I haven't had a chance since by the time I get home it's dark but I will take a look at it on Saturday and then take it to the shop. It really is annoying vibrating sound when I'm in reverse.

I think my gas mileage went down almost 1 MPG. I can't help but go WOT everytime I get in the car. It's addicting.

Did you ever find out how much the HKS weighs?

Yeah, I just dug up that thread. It weighs in at 56lbs. Thats 14lbs lighter than the stock exhaust.

Here's the thread that I posted a long time ago when I first bought it (the pics and video no longer work in that thread. I have the video rehosted on another site). The thread contains my impressions of the exhaust.

Yea, I installed this exhaust about a month ago on my Z. At first, it was real quiet. About a week later it got just a little louder. To me, its a little louder than stock, but not much until you get on it. Then when your at WOT, its still just a few notches louder than stock. Not a huge difference at all. But the tone is just great. It deepens the stock exhaust tone and still keep the gurgle. Im actually looking into getting resonated test pipes to make it alittle louder at lower rpms, as well as amplify the stock gurgle sound at deaccel and accel.
As far a noises, like rattles...I had a rattle with mine as well. The muffler was hitting (barley) on the black metal shield in the back by the fuel lines. I just shaved up the corner that was hitting and put it back on. From time to time it still rattles when I go in reverse more than 5-10mph...but its fine. One other thing I noticed, is it is fairly close to the differential mounting bolt. I don't think its making contact, but it is very close. You might want to look at both of these spots if you are still hearing rattles.
