Default Skunk2 plenum spacer

I have done some searching and about 60% of what I have read is negatory. Who has it and how do you like it seriously. What is so bad about it? It's made out of some pretty cool material though

"Note: Skunk2 Racing is proud to introduce its’ new VQ35 Nissan/Infiniti intake manifold plenum spacer (patent pending). This spacer is dyno proven to outperform aftermarket manifold plenums currently being sold. The skunk2 spacer effectively increases plenum volume, lowers intake air temperatures, and allows front cylinders to breath more efficiently resulting in gains of up to 10+ hp to the wheels, and increased throttle response. Unlike other spacers on the market, Skunk2 spacers are made from a special carbon composite material (carbon impregnated nylon-6) that offers superior thermal insulation characteristics which also increases power by keeping the upper plenum and charge air temperatures lower. Because the stock upper plenum is used, the engine retains a factory appearance. 5/8” uniform thickness - not angled. Easy installation. Hardware included.* Factory plastic plenum cover and strut tower bar cannot be used in some applications. "

you lose your strut brace and you have to use silicon instead of a gasket.

I really don't understand why people keep asking about this thing when the majority of the feedback is already negative and there is so much postive feedback on the motordyne spacer? are people really that cheap? there must be a post like this every week...

Maybe because Skunk2 has the biggest advertising budget of all the the plenum mod people out there and magazines keep publishing this piece in their "new products" sections. In Import Tuner they actually installed one on their power pages. Apparently the mags are not in touch with the folks actually making or buying parts. More and more mainstream magazines are just salesmen for their advertisers and not journalist looking out for their readers.

So sad

Chris

Agree. The Sport Z magazine plenum vs plenum spacer shoot-out results are pretty clear to me.

I would go with an AAM spacer if I didnt have a rev-up. Keeps stock STB and engine cover, and is tapered, unlike any other plenum spacer.

I just purchased the Motordyne 5/16th spacer. I figured all spacers were pretty much the same. Obviously I was wrong, and I do not have the infamous Sport Z magazine either sooo. Have a good one....

"This stealth modification adds 11HP-13HP and is the simplest to install. The 5/16" plenum spacer is fully compatible with all stock and aftermarket strut bars. The engine cover easily fits and never needs to be cut. With the engine cover and strut bar in place the engine bay looks completely stock."

We sell both items and though the Motordyne spacer may be slightly more expensive, it is well worth the money. The Motordyne spacer kit comes will hardware which makes it a very complete kit, every bolt has a washer to it and every bolt for the mod is replaced with the new hardware that is supplied with the kit. The IsoThermal gasket is also a big plus helping plenum temperatures stay cool and the new plenum spacers have IsoThermal gaskets built into the spacer itself so replacing the stock gaskets is no longer needed. Not only does it retain the factory STB, it also comes with a detailed step-by-step install guide with pictures making the install easy as it should be.

Why I hate the Skunk2 Plenum spacer...

See the pictures at the bottom... that spacer raped my hood...

I will give Skunk some props, the hardware was dead on. The install was so easy you dont NEED instruction (all though they were included and relativly detailed....)
