Default True dual or H/X pipe

I searched and found a lot of info. but nothing really concrete. I understand the need for the x or h pipe in evening out the exhaust note and pressure for each cylinder, but what is better for performance?? True dual (2 spearate pipes ex: HKS hi-power Ti) or something with an H or X pipe?? Can you also make some recommendations. I want something that sounds as exotic as possible, loud, and not ricey, and maybe rumbles a bit, but I'd rather it sound more exotic like the HKS. Price does not matter. Thanks yall

one thing that has surprised me with my exhausts is the fact of the aeroturbine mufflers and the X pipe, all decel popping is eliminated. in my opinion, the decel popping is ricey. yes mine sounds very strong and deep often being compared to a european V-8. sound clip available on my website under the exhaust section. thanks.

+1
Also, the elimination of flex sections on your system would be a problem for me, I have the PE kit and the exhaust manifolds are prone to cracking anyway.

Also, I can't get sound from your video. Maybe it is me, but I don't think so.

Welcome.

Your alternative true dual or X or H pipe is kind of a false choice. A true dual exhaust can have either a X or H pipe or none: but its still a true dual exhaust.

Suggestions? Yes. Study this forum. Its filled with suggestions.

you do not need an H or X pipe to have decent power gains. HAving an X or an H pipe in your TRUE DUAL exhaust is a muscle car trick that does seem to work. But it's very hard to say for sure, unless you initially have an exhaust, such as the one pictured above, with no x or h pipes, and then custom weld in x or H pipes, to be able to judge a difference between them all.
The HKS utilizes an h pipe, while stillen for example employs an x pipe.
There is no difinitive answer; every setup is different, and every exhaust is slightly different in it's flow characteristics etc...

I used to have an injen exhaust, and was happy with it, it had no x or h pipe. But the HKS hi power TI that i used to have also was very similar in overall power, and it had an H pipe....

Sound wise, I think you'll get a better sound from an H or X pipe setup, simply because the exhaust pulses merge, which will aid in a cleaner sound IMO.

My real true dual is pretty dirty.... but i like! Sounds more like a muscle car, yet still kinda exotic. Hard to describe. Well.. if i get tired of it, maybe i'll try to add the x or h pipe. I'll post differences and try and do before/after dyno as well.. Also, i'll post up some sound clips soon. Where is a good place to host sound clips?

is it true that true dual (like HKS, Borla, etc) take away that truly "exotic" exhaust note that our stock exhaust has? my friend told me that it will just sound like everyother car that has exhaust. something about having so many bends and turns. is it our y-pipe exhaust that creates that exotic Z and G tone??

Kind of. The signature sound is primarily the result of design and OEM resonators and mufflers. Alter or delete either and the 350Z sound is gone.

An exhaust can have separate pipes and a H pipe. Do you know anything about exhaust design, or are you bewildered?
