Default Confused About Stock Exhaust Upgrade

Hey, can someone lend a NEWB a hand here??? I am upgrading my stock muffler to a lighter, higher flowing one and need to know...

What is the stock pipe diameter at the inlet/outlet?

What would one recommend as the best bolt on, NO MOD (welding, etc.) replacement?

Thanks All! Glad to be a part of the community.

If you are just replacing the muffler section of the piping I doubt you'll see really any gains in horsepower...although you may reduce the weight of the car by about 5lbs.

Exhaust choice I've learned is based on a couple factor:
*Performance
*Price
*Sound
*Style

When you know what you are looking for it will help you decide.
For example:
I love the stock 350Z sound so I didn't want to alter the exhaust system too much but I did want more power so I'm simply replacing the restrictive cat. converters with higher flowing ones. This way the sound doesn't change much and I get a little more power while keeping a stock look.

Good luck with your search

we have flame suits just down the hall past the detailing forum on the left but before the repairing forums. they are only good up to a certain temp so you may experience some burning...better run and get one now

Instead of replacing exhaust components, members usually do cat-back systems. An aftermarket cat-back will be less expensive than replacing individual components.
