its deff alot better than it was, but i still get a random minor struggle at idle. i hear some knocks and pings sometimes too. but over all pretty smooth now. i also put a Cusco strut in too and needed to put 2 sets of washers under each bolt to clear it, now i have minor contact with the hood. im gonna try and keep it down to 1 washer per bolt tomorrow and see if it clears still. IM wondering is i messed up the gasket, or if thoes center washer o-rings really really matter that much cause they were semi curshed when i put them on the center screws.

I had part of the rear gasket folded a little since it's metal and it caused my car to ping too. I flattened it out again, and added the silicone gasket sealer to the center screws and screwed everything back in. No pinging or rough idle after that. Did you throw a cel with all the missing?

CEL = check engine light. When you throw a code, the CEL light turns on. You're probably getting the misfire code. I would recheck the gasket to make sure it's absolutely flat. Did you swap out the 2 studs on the plenum so that you can screw in bolts? You might as well do this at the same time, the two studs unscrew easily with a vice grip wrench.

yo you gotta make sure the gasket sits right.. it's super easy to have it misaligned. make sure to remember to tighten all the bolts.

Good information, I found a loose bolt, and tightened it back up. It turned easily when I checked it.

The result, smoother idle, and power throughout, especially up top.

This may be the reason my car started having lean spells, and I'll re-dyno it to confirm. It feels like I gained back 10rwhp.

It looks like the bolt may have been a little too tight. If you'd like you can send in your plenum and we can fix it for you (no charge), or we can offer you another upper plenum at half cost.

Shoot me an e-mail if you'd like MikeM@alteredatmosphere.com

Wow, that is great that AAM will repair it. At least the mystery is solved about the air leak.

i was looking into buying a spacer or actual APS/Crawford plenum. Any cons or pros to this besides cost more for a plenum?

i hear some bad things about aftermarket upper plenums, thats why i stuck with the spacers.

What did you hear about aftermarket plenums and from who? The best FI Zs are running these plenums and I have never seen anything substantiated about any of the top notch plenums like Crawford and APS.

okay with the hood, pull the hood bracket up a little bit by loosening the bolts and than lifting a little bit at a time. thats what i did with my hood, it drove me crazy that night. its not much of a difference to me. plus wont damage your hood . also isnt their rubber pieces for the strut bar on the hood? mine has it.
