Hey Lotus,

You don't happen to have any before and after dyno's do you? I'd be interested to see if you see gains simlar to what Stillen is advertising. I like the idea of this exhaust, but the weight is a concern, so if there were some power gains I could believe more readily than Stillen's own it might sway my decision.

Thanks,
D'oh!

My point was that driver weight also counts for over all vechicle weight.

Cool design!!?? I've seen custom exhausts look better than the Stillen exhaust. You gotta be joking.

I had a Thermal R&D 3" exhaust on my 99 turbo Eclipse that looked much nicer than the Stillen. All polished SS from the front flange to the muffler tip. The Stillen looks like a regular exhaust from Midas or something. I know I may get flamed for this but this is just my opinion. I'll wait for a lighter, better lookin exhaust to come out before spending $1000+ dollars.

I've heard a rough estimate is that every 10lbs equates to 1hp. So removing 10lbs from a car is the same as adding 1hp. Therefore if the Stillen exhaust is 20lbs more and adds 13hp, really it's like adding 11hp.

I will weigh the cat back again tonight. I think it was 32 lbs but I will check again. 32 lbs cat to muffler, 35.5 lbs for muffler. My plan now is to diet, lose 20 lbs and get back my 2HP !

Just to clarify...i just want to know what the weight of each piece is:
1. Y pipe
2. intermediate pipe
3. Muffler by itself

Thanks!

Let's see,

The Z weighs about 3300 lbs (this is from various Magazines, who's numbers I trust more than Nissans) and has about 240 RWHP (using RWHP since that is how most mods are measured).

So that equates to 13.75 lbs/HP

Therefore, if you want to maintain that ratio, you could say that 14 lbs = 1 hp in the Z.

Therefore, if the Stillen exhaust can truley give 13 hp, it would have to weight about 180lbs more than stock for it to leave you with the same accelleration. Of couse, the handling will go down no matter how little weight is added. That is really where the lighter weight will help.

Good Theory, but the think is that 10 or 13 lbs can make any difference in HP.
my experience is that my brother and I have the same F body a few years ago and we both have the same Mod. but he weigth back then 150 lbs more than me, I always win when we race by a car and when we dyno the cars (same day) we have te same WHP, also when we go to the track my car always do a better time. I know is not a science fact, but is a logical explanietion.
