Default DIY Plenum spacer ???

Guys, forgive me if this sounds stupid, but has anyone tried to make a plenum spacer? Ican't find anything on the forums
It look pretty simple stuff, to justify >200 bucks...
With some patience and right tools it should be possible to cut the spacer from a sheet of fiberglass or some other material (teflon anyone).
Any reasonable thoughts appreciated.

I dont mess with performance parts. Spend the extra money and be safe with it. More power to your idea though...

If you try it, I wouldn't use anything other than aluminum or some other metal. The vacuum pressures _may_ destroy fiberglass.

I believe, it shall make sense for the spacer to be out of some sort of plastic, since upper plenum would be thermally isolated - cooler air -> more gains.
Teflon should be ideal material here, but getting a thick teflon sheet of proper size may be an issue.

The Kinetix plenums have been known to melt even though they are made of heat resistant plastics. I'd avoid fiber glass or plastic of any kind and go with machined aluminum. Aluminum is a good heat sink.

aluminum can also be a good heat conductor.

But that is exactly why I think plastic would be better. If the upper plenum stays cooler, it may help keep the incoming air cooler.
