the auto gets the 287HP as you probably know already..... it doesnt affect horsepower but does determine which engine you get

Tell me he didn't just say that...

Ok I'll help out a with what I know, which isn't much mind you. Most gains won't be noticed on this car until you do something to your ECU. A lot of the mods people put into the car the ECU will adjust for and therefore it will make minimal gains. You get an ECU reflash or other engine management system so that the ECU doesn't automatically compensate (as much anyway).

In short, you probably won't see much gain from any mod until that is done. IMHO if you plan on continually upgrading your car I'd go for a piggyback of some sort. I'm wishing I had gone and gotten the piggy back now, I spent $500 on the flash from AAM, but now want to get a Utec. If I'd just gotten the utec I wouldn't have spent the money on the flash which is now pretty much a loss. :-(

Upgrade options: (As presented by a n00b)
1: If planning to go FI or not done with modding your car, piggy back.
2: If done all that you want to your car and don't plan to do any more mods, Flash/Flash with tuning(Yes, it can be done on a stock ECU).

Experts, chime in with any info to help...

Oh yeah, Dyno's are NOT a waste!!!!!! They prove that that $1000 you spent on your exhaust actually gained you that 2hp you were looking for! lol

I try to Dyno everytime I do a major mod. Come on, if I'm spending $300 on a product, what's $79 to prove that I'm actually GAINING something out of it? Plus it gives everyone else impressions of what actual gains there are from certain mods/setups that are real and not propoganda by the company selling it.

Every auto Z is a 287 hp motor, none of them are REVUP. So this means you can put a plenum spacer and add power. Dont listen to anybody else.

Only the 05 anniversary editions (6spd), and 06+ 6spd have the REVUP. Everybody else has the 287 and the spacer will add power.
