I know this is a strange one. I got my z (06 Touring) about three weeks ago and I love it. The only problem I seem to have is that if I drive it for more than 15 minutes or so, and have the a/c on (either fresh or recirc), the inside of the car smells like exhaust. Nothing smells outside of the car. If it is exhaust, I don't know how it could be getting in the cabin, especially when it is on recirc. Anybody else experience this or have any ideas what the smell could be if it is not exhaust? I hate to go to the dealership.

 

Are you SURE it's exhaust smell? When they are new, everything is baking in and you get all kinds of smells...

For a comparison, get out and smell the exhaust coming out of your tail-pipe(once the engine is warmed up). Cup your hand over it for a few seconds and smell your hand. Your exhaust should smell like nothing if it's running properly.

 

how fast are you driving. ur engine is probably melting the plastic bag cover. the engine will smell but goes away later. check ur oil

hiz-n-herz - No, I guess I am not completely sure that it is exhaust. Today I drove to work without the a/c on and kept it in recirc mode so that I wouldn't be drawing in air through the front vent, however, I did havr the windows open. Well, same smell. The a/c must make it worse because the air is blowing right on you. I got out of the car, checked under the hood etc. and I don't smell it. But I'm sitting at work and my shirt still smells like the insid eof my car. I hate problems that cannot be identified.

 

Oh man, I have an 06' with the same freakin smell. It's almost like propane or some type of gas. It started happening after i did a trackday. I don't care too much about it but I'm concerned about inhaling that crap. Same as everyone, i want to avoid taking it to the dealer...
