Default Does transmission effect exhaust note?

I have an auto 06 350Z which I am about to install nismo exhaust on (first performance mod), and I am just wondering how my transmission could effect the sound.

If you connect the exhaust system to the transmission you are in big trouble.

Yeah, the transmission controls the sound, if you change gears, the sound will change automatically.

Well i think what you are asking is is it different than on a 6 speed.
and the answer is yes gearing will have an effect. lower rpm= deeper sound.
im not sure if thats what your asking but you will notice a small difference.

Maybe the OP is wondering if the sound is different with AT vs. MT? I would think that the answer is no.

The sound wont be different really... but on a MT you will of course hear things you wouldn't hear on an AT.

Example 1: Starting and stopping movement: Obviously when you start moving with a MT, you have to rev with no load, then slowly add load to the engine (aka clutch), which creates a sound progression you wouldn't hear when driving an AT. Same with stopping... you take load off the engine before coming to a complete stop, which noticably changes exhaust pitch and volume.

Example 2: Engine braking: ... I shouldn't have to explain this to you!

My apologies for the sly remark: its in my nature.

The exhaust will sound the same at the same RPM regardless if you are driving a manual or automatic transmission.
