Default APS exhaust owners, chime in

I purchased an APS 2.5" exhaust for my Z back in May 27,2006 from brainstorm performance. Recently, in the past few weeks, there has been a horrible rattle coming from the muffler. It doesn't do it while the car is cold, only after it heats up. I have since tried to correct this rattle, thinking something was rubbing against the car creating this noise. I have fully inspected the car underneath, and nothing is rubbing the exhaust or piping, so I took off the muffler and the rattle went away. I am certain the noise is coming from within the muffler. It sounds like a metal bar is beating on the inside of the muffler (at high speed of course).

I have not been able to get a hold of brainstorm performance to find out what kind of warranty work we need to do with this exhaust (the aren't answering their phones). I also emailed APS just now. I have contacted Sam from GT motorsports to see what he thinks needs to be done, and he can not help me until i contact BSP or APS. Its also rumored that BSP might be going out of business

So my question is, has any of your APS owners had any problems with your exhaust making this noise? I can't even think to what it could be, other than something internally. Like I said, it started up around 2 weeks ago and nothing has been added to the car that would create this noise. I've had the exhaust 5 months and it has only 2500 miles, and this sound is unbarable, with it only getting progressively worse. I also understand that the exhaust system has a 1 year warranty, but dont know how the warranty work is handled. Thanks.

Do you have cats or test pipes? I had to have my heat shields pounded away from my Crawford Cats to stop a terrible rattle, vibration I was getting. This would only happen after the car warmed up.

i have cats...where could u hear the rattle from? I can hear it if i put my ear close to the exit pipes on the muffler however no where else. I also checked the heatshields by bending them back but everything looked ok there. Sounds like its coming from within

It was very hard to pin it down. It sounded like it was coming from right underneath my seat. I'm betting it's the heat shields. What cats are you running?

The sound is not coming from under my seat, it is coming out of the muffler in the rear. I have Ultimate Racing cats.

It is not the heat shields, it is definitely coming from the exhaust muffler portion.
