Sorry I'm a bit late on this post...

I found that rasp with the stock exhaust was from 3-4k in my case as well... With the Nismo exhaust, I get rasp from 2.5k-3k and after that it sounds very nice. I let my friend drive my car and he slows down and picks up speed just to hear the tone over and over

So the best combination for the NISMO exhaust would be Helix or AAM test pipes ?

I just got rid of mine. Too raspy for my taste.

The rasp I had with the Nismo was also around 2.5-3.5k. After that though, it sounded really mean.

I think the NISMO is too loud by itself! I think the stock exhuast sounded more refined. I'm looking to silence my NISMO down to somewhere in-between OEM and NISMO (around 92.5 dbs at 3000rpm is my target).

I have this set up and EVERYONE who hears it says it sounds awesome. I have DC Headers, then UT-R Resonated, then JIC Y and the rest is NISMO. The NISMO Y is rather inefficient and cracked in a little more than a year with no scraping. The JIC replaced it with a noticeable bump in the butt dyno and an extra coolness to the sound aloong with more of a straight through design and better durability in the flex areas. The UT-R resonated TPs really opened everything up, butt dyno, volume and ferocity. Not for the meek or timid by anymeans. Sound is subjective but lets put it this way, last week I was on my way home driving through the hills off of Benedict Canyon when I noticed I was being followed by a brand new BMW M6. He was on my a$$ on a steep hill so I gunned it and pulled a little and then held my distance. At the top of the hill, he pulled along side of me and gave me a thumbs up. Goin up hill WOT = LOUD and FEROCIOUS and he seemed to like it. Also get compliments from Ferrari drivers too among others that always seemed surprised by the sound and acceleration. Im not claiming to out accelerate a Ferrari or anything, im just sayin they like the sound and are surprised by the Porsche eating acceleration

Highly reccomended, if you dont mind attention and everyone from INtegras and VW GTIs to M6s and Ferraris, wanting to challenge you just for the hell of it. OHH yeah, underpasses and tunnels will become your new favorite things.

I think I might give it a try on my aps TP's. I can't stand how quite the stock exhaust is. I mean it's a sports car it's supposed to sound mean and aggressive. if I wanted super refined I would have bought a lexus.

although I don't want it so incredibly loud that I can't hold a normal conversation in the car without yelling.

also I'm thinkin about selling or trading my unres TP's for some decent resonated ones so if anyone is interested.
