Default weird sound after test pipe install

Hey whats up... I just had my test pipes installed today and they sound good...but after I rev up when its going down it hits a certain rpm and makes a weird sound...It sounds like something rattling, really raspy sounding, but if something was loose it would rattle more often than just at the rpm, hitting bumps and stuff...does anyone else have this or is it normal?? I'm thinking its just the sound the air makes when it hits that certain speed.

SEARCH.

I'm usually not a search ****, but this has been covered a bunch of times.

Most test pipes / HFC's will make that noise. It's commonly accepted that it is exactly as you hypothesized, the air rushing through the pipes at a certain speed. I can't stand the noise personally, makes your car sound broken

Check your mufflers, I had a problem like this when I had my test pipes installed. My muffler was hitting on a piece medal, which they remove after the problem started. Hope this helps

There's no way to fix the sound, it's just what test pipes / HFC's do. If you don't like it, you really have no choice but to take them off your car.

I get that same sound- it's an exhaust resonance right about 3500 rpm, give or take a couple hundred. Just stay on the right-most pedal and you won't hear it enough to worry about it.

I recently installed some non resonated test pipes by top speed pro 1. For the most part I can detect what is rasp or hissing from the pipes. But when I'm accelerating from a slow speed giving it a lot of gas it sounds like there are small particles of something going through my exhaust.

It makes a sound like it is either dirt or small pieces of metal (hopefully not). I noticed it in my brothers old POS Jetta and it was never checked out before the car was sold.

Is this sound natural? or could there be a problem with something in the engine?

holy dead thread bump.... you will noticed a sound of air rushing by, if it sounds like there is something in there, take down the y pipe and make sure you don't have something moving around in there

it could also be the resonator material in the test pipe moving around. top speed is not necessarily a well made product

My 03 Z has resonated test pipes installed by the previous owner, i dont hear any weird sounds, a lot of people complaint about it, mine just doesnt have it, maybe you should double check for leaks and make sure everything its properly tightened

This was the problem. one of the gaskets I had from headers to tp's got pretty much demolished after driving 50 or so miles on the test pipes. switched out the gasket and that fixed all my problems its sounding nice and crisp.

Might as well bump an old thread rather than making a new one.
I just installed my Top Speed tp and it sounds great with just a lil bit of rasp but that comes with all TP so i dont really mind. The problem is that it rattles around 25-3000rpm and i made sure all the bolts are tight. Anyone knows why it makes that sounds ? I could careless about the rasp but this rattle is killing me

Did your kit come with springs and lock washers?

crawl under the car while it is up in the air, have a buddy start the car and see if you can pinpoint the rattle. on mine the drivers side was about 2mm off the heatshield. i took a pry bar up there and bent it some

The bolts came loose before but i got that fixed after i went to the shop. Its a really good shop so 100% sure they wont come loose anymore, i probably have to crawl under the car and see whats up though. Its not a stock y pipe, its an after market one but i dont know what brand since theyve been on the car before i bought it

it could be the heat shield, could be hitting the M brace, could be alot of things.
