Default CEL with spacer

i used our crappy search,....im sure its been covered before, but i couldnt find anything pertinent on the first page
ive had the motordyne 5/16 spacer installed for about a month. about 2 weeks after the initial install i got a service engine soon light. i went to autozone and got it read,i dont remember the actual code, but it was emissions realted obvisouly. so i had them clear it, and its been gone for about another 2 weeks, now...its back? the car operates the same though
ive re-tightened the bolts 2 or 3 times now, and each time they moved considerably without much force on them, maybe lil over half a turn using just a nut driver? any ideas what might be goin on, and why they seem to be loosening?
oh, i also droped in the k&n filter at the same time. could it be too much oil on the filter, now on the MAF. any suggestions would be great.

The directions to install the spacer say how much torque to use. Did you disconnect the battery so the ECU could re-learn on its own? I've had mine installed for a couple months now and never had an issue.

yes i have disconnected the battery. i couldnt find a torque wrench that measured low enough to use for this, so i just used a nut driver and as tight as i could go by hand which the instructions said would be close to what its supposed to be.

My guess would be there is a leak somewhere. I made sure to use a inch/lb wrench so I knew the bolts were tight enough but not too tight.

I've never heard of the CEL coming on after the spacer install. What code are you getting? It could be unrelated to the spacer. Check the code and let us know. Also, did you tighten the bolts in the correct order?? Lastly, not using a torque wrench when dealing with aluminum parts is a no no.

If its emissions related, it sounds like it may be related to something else.

Did you get the code number?
If not, try to get it. It will help trouble shooting greatly.

+1 GET THAT CODE!!

Make sure that all hoses around the plenum area are attached to their proper locations. A disconnected hose could definitely cause a code to be thrown (I think?)

- gaskets can easily bend
- common to leave a loose bolt without torquing it.
