This seems to be something that's limited to the APS. If we were to assume that it is turbo related, then it would be happening with every exhaust and not just the APS.

well i'm just trying to figure out if it's something that's happened to NA people or FI people

and if it's happened to FI people, chances are they were turbos, and were most likely APS turbos at that

But me running a supercharger where my EGT's simply don't get as high as a turbo manifolds, and then I'm also not running test pipes - which most turbo guys are running. It makes me wonder what setups those 2 cars had, because it might really not be anything for me to worry about

I really think just about any muffler will slowly disintegrate with backfired flames

well I guess I'll let everyone know if it happens to me. I'm more curious if they were running test pipes though than what type of FI they had, because the cats are designed to withstand flames, but mufflers usually aren't.

thanks for the heads up

I honestly don't think that would make a difference... just my $0.02

I was thinking FI would make a difference mainly if there were test pipes because FI cars run richer than NA cars, and then there's a higher volume of fuel too because of the boost

The only reason I brought up if it was a turbo or SC was turbos have higher EGT's and more boost (hence more fuel) earlier in the powerband so backfiring might happen more often

That's what I would think as well, but sentry asked.

well seems isolated because noone here but one person knows about a issue with a exhaust that thousands have lmao. Certainly the odds are still in favor minus 2 events lmao. U cant discredit the exhuast with those numbers considering so many people have them and no complaints. So until someone else chimes in or any one else, ..im still scrolling through threads where people love the exhaust .
