Default How many hours approx. to install headers?

I 'am considering to install headers on my 350 Roadster.
From the forum I understood its a nasty job, to get an impression what did they (dealer/ tuningshop ) charged you for this installation (labor time please)

Thanks,

Mang

It took me 8hrs in my garage. So a dealer should be less than that.

5-6 hrs ... but that was with Strup headers - other headers can take a lot longer b/c of fit issues.

doing it yourself in your garage with out a lift, i would set aside 12-15 hours of wrench time unless you are highly experienced. I would say 6-8 with a lift if you have never done it before on a Z. Good luck

Yeah it was worth it, but now I have to take them off before I take my car in to the dealer to have them check to see what is wrong with it.

I did mine in the garage with the help of a friend and it took about 6 and a half hours. You do not need a lift, but you will need a jack to get under the car. Also you will need a good selection of tools.

IIRC it took me 8 hours. Two studs on the left bank decided to back out. On that note, be sure to pick up some inverted torx bits. You'll need them to reinstall the studs if they do back out on you.

I'm getting mine done at the dealer for free. Thats because they are replacing my motor with oil consumption problem.

yeah, it's a time consumming job. Figure 4-6 hours labor quote from a shop. Ideally you'd want to work with a shop that has done this before, so they know the ins and outs. Solid peformance gains though, and one of the best NA mods you can do. Expect a few of those busted knuckles though, as it's a tight working area.

DIYers can plan on setting the better part of a day aside if doing it in your garage with jackstands and limited tool selection.

As mentioned, the Strup headers are of excellent fit, and designed to be some of the easiest around to install. They supply step by step instructions with them too. We got 'em ready to ship if interested. $459.95 to your door.

4 hours exactly on the dot, even w/ bleeding all the air out of the coolant system .

I can't the credit for the speed of the install though. My buddy has installed about 4 sets of headers on 350z's. All in all it really isn't that bad of a install. Hell to me the hardest part was getting that nutt off to remove the coolant pipe.
