Default Plenum Questions…………….

I have been looking into doing a plenum upgrade this week or next. I have a few questions. I have been reading a searching for two days. So don’t tell me to search. If you don’t have some useful to contribute then go away.

I have a 06 with Injen CAI [1986] and Injen Exhaust. Incase you need to know.

I have been looking at the Mrev-2 with spacer and the SSV Extreme Flow Kinetix

It seems that the most popular choice is the MREV-2 and 5/16 spacer from Motordyne. I like both. I have read good and bad about the SSV and mostly good about the MREV-2 setup. I plan on adding N02 in the near future, few months. I probably will go with a 75 or 100 shot. Do any of you have any experience with running N02 with these plenums? Will it cause the engine to lean out making it unsafe to run nitrous? I’m will be doing an ECU upgrade of some kind haven’t made up my mind yet. I would like to wait on that until I have completed all of my engine upgrades. I plan on doing test pipes (soon), headers, cams, and pulleys this summer. Can some of you give me some kind of feed back or insight. What makes the SSV bad? I could not really tell what kind of hp gains it was really getting. Can someone shed some light on it. It look as if they are both good for FI application I plan on going TT in 08. Thanks

Don't believe the BS dynos and claims on the Kinetix site about supposed power gains. I'll refer you to my post in this link...
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....19#post3755919

It does look and sound awsome though (10x better than the stock plenum IMHO) and adds some bling to the engine bay. Some guys on here insist that it performs well in FI applications, which you stated you intend to do.

Soooo... if you decide to get the SSV, you should know I'm trying to sell mine. I'll sell it for a good discount versus $800 for a new one. PM me if interested.

Here is what we did. Test car was a 2003 6spd touring model.
The dyno was a dynojet. All pulls were done in 4th gear. And the ECU was reset in between each mod.

2 pulls each, these are the best results.

The tests were:

Dyno 1 = STOCK
Dyno 2 = Ported Lower Plenum
Dyno 3 = Ported Lower Plenum + JWT intake
Dyno 4 = Ported Lower Plenum + JWT intake + V5 Kinetix Plenum
Dyno 5 = Ported Lower Plenum + JWT intake + V5 Kinetix Plenum + Ported Throttle Body
Dyno 6 = Kinetix SSV + JWT intake + Ported Throttle Body

Dyno 1 STOCK we managed to pull 238HP/224TQ not bad base line
Dyno 2 241HP/228TQ
Dyno 3 244HP/226TQ
Dyno 4 243HP/229TQ
Dyno 5 244HP/229TQ Ported Throttle body did not do much
Dyno 6 235HP/221TQ As you see the SSV lost HP over the V5 and alot of TQ

Here are the dyno graphs

MREV2 and spacer will work fine with N2O and FI no problem.

Well I placed my order today for the MREV-2 and the 5/16 spacer. I used one of the sponsors http://www.g35parts.com/9083/osc/index.php.
They had it in stock so it should be here Wed. Does any one know if the Seibon VS2 Carbon Fiber hood will clear or do I need to find another hood?
Thanks for the help guys.

I was just about to PM you back about my SSV, but I see that you ordered this instead. Good choice! Now I just have to keep trying to find someone to buy my SSV (LOL!!!)who is more concerned with bling than performance or is convinced that it is the shizzle for FI applications!

As far as hood clearance... it shouldn't be an issue/problem. The MREV2 and 5/16ths spacer should fit under the factor strut tower brace. Therefore, hood clearance should be the same as stock.

I don't know the answer for sure, but I'd be very surprised if an aftermarket hood had less clearance than stock.

I don't know the big difference between the two. But my Crawford plenum rubs in three spots with the Seibon VT. So far as the SSV, I'll let you know Monday the difference. For I just went to a Crawford.

Sounds like something a dremel could fix.

Seibon VSII Style Carbon Fiber Vented Hood 350Z:

Please note that hood understructure will come in contact with the strut tower bar. This is normal and will not affect the performance of the vehicle.
After looking futher into the hood I found this is on one on the sponsors sites I guess That would be a yes. LOL Now ti find out how bad it is.

Thanks again guys.

Your right. I'll just have to set some time to the aside to do. Underneth my hood is already custom painted, so the paint is gone and I'll need some good dremel work done to keep it nice. Then repainted. I like to keep it sharp all the times.
