More important thant gaining 3hp it looks like you evened out the torque curve. Intakes are mostly for response (barely measurable) and sound more than for HP.

Sounds great! I'd love to see how the other brands turn out and compare those to Stillen. Especially the prices.

Hello,

I figured I would chime in and give my opinion. I was present for all of these wonderful events, and I have to agree with Mike and Justin. I was very impressed with the baseline numbers of HR motor. Like one member said Intakes are more for sound and response then overall HP gains. When the car was being dyno'd with the Stillen Intakes at WOT, the car sounded mean. I personally think it sounded great. I love the sound of a deep intake! Just my two cents.

Thanks Justin bringing out more information on these intakes! Pretty interesting stuff, but Im not sure if im going to shell out that much money for small gains.. If i was only getting a bolt on for sound, Id rather spend it on an exhaust for a more noticable sound difference.

Maybe when I have some spare cash...

Thanks for the great thread! I actually had my Stillen intakes put on today as well, though I did not hear them with the stock exhaust as I had the Fast Intentions exhaust put on at the same time. Based on the sound that I am hearing, the exhaust sounds a lot meaner and deeper than the sound clips, so this may be stemming from the intakes. From what you're telling me sound wise, I wish I would have stayed and asked to have the intakes on first to hear them!

Thanks,
DAMN! That sounded mean when you revved!

Agreed sounds great but to me not worth the money for such small gains..

Those stock dyno numbers are very promising. Considering Automobile's dyno test on the new G37 gave back 286hp and 237 torque, the HR may not be as outdated as quickly as people are playing it out to be when the G37 comes out.

Has anyone heard when Nissan will be coming out with their cold air intake? I talked to the Nissan reps at the Stillen car show two weeks ago and they said it would be just a few days.

Sounds mean!!! As you said, not the best quality of microphone, but I'm sure it sounds awesome in person! I'm trying to hold out for more companies but I'm tempted to go ahead and buy

It does sound good, but I'll wait for Nismo's version to come out for comparison.

Wow! Some awesome WHP numbers there!!! Wish it had more torque though. Great review and write-up none-the-less!!! Thanks for the info!

great info and dyno #'s. i thought fujita was making intakes for the HR as well.

im sure most of us would like to compare a few intakes, when they come out, before spending $400.

probably, but if it makes significantly more power.. the extra 200 wouldn't bother me that bad (depending on design of the system).

I still don't think we're really seeing true power gain from intakes on a dyno...on the other hand, I don't have a better idea for seeing what they really do so it's a moot point.

I would like to see a dyno in correlation with exhaust and test-pipes. Sometimes the combination of the mods yield higher results, than individually by themselves. But to have a true test all the mods would be dyno'd individually and then together all on the same day.

I will be upgrading the exhaust here shortly and will post up new dyno's once that's installed. Not sure if I'll do test pipes yet.

I think i would wait for JWT and run the cheaper of the two , it doesnt look like intake mods are going to help much, so cheaper would be better for just sound. IMO

Thumbs up

Very nice job on taking the time to do a dyno for the public. THANK YOU!!!

One thing i would like to see, would be a overlay of the best stock pull and the best intake pull. This way we could see what the gain was in the Mid range over stock. Right now all we know is Peak HP and Peak TQ.

Thanks again for your time on this.
