Cat removal help
Yeah, I'm gonna go back at it this week end after I made p a huge breaker bar. The problemI'm having is just getting the stupid socket on the bolt. I don't even want to think about the torque I'm going to have to use to try to break these crazy bolts
. I'm don't want to take it to a shop because I love working on my car.I will try to jack it up higher so maybe I could get more leverage. Did your guys bolts have the the nut onthe different side of the flange on the top part?

I love working on my car also, but with cats, it saves a lot of time with a lift at the shop, things never go right the first time, getting vibration or rattle so back on the lift for easy visual, the shops POWER TOOLS. I took mine to the shop and with air tools had them off in 10 minutes, no exageration. Maybe this time take it to the shop and the little tweaks do youself at home

Ya the bolts on te opposite side of the pipe pretty much.
I used... Went from the bolt to like a 45 degree angle.. cant remember exactly found it at the hobby shop so sorry not much help...

Bumping an old thread..
Anyone just cut off the bolt threads? Mine are old and beat up, I'm never reusing them. If I can grind down the thread pin head (side facing the muffler), I can just pull the cats out and push the rest of the threads through the header flange.

I just installed my headers this weekend..compared to that, cats are a breeze. You just need a ratchet, 14mm deep socket, swivel joint, multiple extensions of 6 to 10 inches. You need to take off the air intake and the plastic underbody panels. You can access most of the bolts w/ 10"'s of extension on a ratchet from underneath the car. On the drivers side I accessed one or two bolts from the top of the engine(hence the air intake removal) w/ about 3ft. of extensions. Just get the extensions, the swivel joint and a box wrench and be creative. If one method doesn't work, try another, it will def. come off just be patient. Good luck.
