Default Borla needing welding to fit with megan testpipes?

My shop said that they were having fitment issues with the Megan testpipes and the Borla TD. They said that they would have to take the flex pipe section off the stock exhaust and weld it onto the borla td to make it fit, but I'm not sure why there are fitment issues anyways. They said I could come by tommorow morning to check it out. I bought the exhaust used so I'm not sure why there would be any fitment issues. It was never fitted with the stock cats, so is it maybe an issue with the megan TPs? But I dont think I've come across someone else having that issue with the megans. From what I hear they crack/break, but fitment isn't really a problem.

edit: they said they could bolt it up as is right now, but it would definetely crack since there's no flex piping on the borla.

Megan TP's are probably going to crack anyways. I think you should try to get rid of the Megans and get another brand.

From what i've seen... the Megan test pipies always seem to crack with y-pipe systems. I've only seen 2 or 3 people with them on Borla TDs, but those people have had no problems at all. Anyways, I think im going to hit up the shop tommorow and see how the car is sitting. And then procede from there on telling them what to do. I would change the test pipes out, but I dont have the time or $$$$ right now. I just want to get it done the cheapest, fastest, way, whilst keeping some quality. Any other input is still appreciated :-)

Don't know why they would not fit. The position and length should be exactly the same as the OEM catalytic converter.

I am just a little curious about the megan test pipes I saw the other day. They had a spot on them that flexes. Would this not help with the cracking issue?

So I just got back from the shop, doesn't seem like the test pipes wanting to matchup on the driver side. So they're going to be welding in either my flexpipe from the stock ypipe or another solid peice of pipe on the intake side (2.25" as opposed to the exits 2.5") of the test pipe. The passenger side seemed fine. I'm also gonna have them make a new bunge for the 02 sensor since the original is in a bad location. the passenger side seemed A quality.

Theres nothing A quality about Megan test pipes.

I had slight fitment issues with my R/T HFC's and the Borla exhaust. I had to crow bar the piping to line up with the driver side cat. While i tweaked the pipe into place it moved the piping down the line which caused rattle, but was later taken care of. They went in after an hour of losening clamps and retighting them, but it wasn't fun. Good luck with things.
