Question Velocity Stack / Venturi Ring

My Delimma,

Like many I want the best performance, sound and cooling power from their intake setup.

I feel that most of the intakes that go for $200+ are mainly for looks, something I'm not terribly concerned about.

After kicking the ideas of an 06' airbox, a popcharger, the stillen airbox as well as the ARC induction box, I'm totally confused.

Would it be possible to just add a velocity stack/ venturi ring to the inside of my 04' airbox and achieve the same results as the above mentioned intakes?

Possibly... The V Stack on the '06 air box is rivited in place from the factory. I wanted to put the V Stack from my heat-soaked waste-of-$$$, poop charger into my stock '06 airbox (since it was bigger than the factory one). But alas, it wouldn't fit.

If you could get your hands on a factory '06 V Stack, I'm sure installation would be straight forward into previous year's airboxes.

Or, in the FS section I've seen used '06 air boxes going for as little as 50 buckaroonies~ (the people selling 'em don't realize it really is the best intake for the Z)... You'll notice most of Japan's tuners also leave the stock air box on their highly built/ tuned N/A engines... Many vendors on this board suggest it as well for N/A. :-)

The poop charger is just a 'bling' thing that actually hurts performance. But boyyy howdy it shor do sound purty~ Lol!

Thanks for your input...

Dang-it, now you've let the secret out! LOL.... Thanks, I have heard so many bad things about the pop charger and have noticed alot of them for sale on in the FS section... But then again, so many others recommend them... I dunno what to do!!!

Yeah, another thing (besides the heat-soak) that bothered me about the poop charger was the fact that you can see pin-hole gaps in the filter if you hold it up to the light. I think the long term effects of inadequate filtering on an engine are not worth the added flow.

I used an Amsoil dropin with my '06 airbox to get the max filtration and flow. It filters and flows better than the K&N dropin.
