Tune or no tune?
I have an JWT pop charger/AAM angled plenum spacer/UR Cats/and HKS dual exhaust......My question is should I get some type of tune...? I have heard of a piggyback to the ECU made by AAM....any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
I have been asking myself the same question. I am almost to the end of my NA bolt on path, and often ask myself FI, NOS, or just tune and keep the car for awhile. I personally decided to get the utech and MD spacer kit at the same time. You also have to consider install prices for the utech and dyno time for the tuning process. Probably will add a few hundred onto your costs. Is it worth it? I just say, what bolt on mod was worth it?
lol utech has to do something, if not just prepare you for NOS or FI. Good luck with your decision.

Besides, our ECU can adapt to conditions ranging from Denver to Death Valley, I sincerely doubt his mods would impact the safety of the motor itself. It would be strictly to add a few ponies on top of what he has.

I had intake, spacer, mrev, testies, and spacer.....I dynod w/out the utec and then w/a tuned utec and gained almost 20whp and tq through out the range...raced a z w/out the tune and lost to similar mods..every car after has lost...honestly we as rev ups lose unless were tuned..but as an 04 im not sure..but i do recommend it !!!
This is pretty simple to answer.
If your going to go with cams, or a full NA buildup, or FI (including Nitrous) you should get an eManage Ultimate, UTEC, or better.
If your staying the way you are - then get a reflash and add an Apexi SAFC unit and get a good A/F tune.
The best route - I would go in your case - would be an Osiris purchase and tune. cover all your bases in one step.

Whether it's NEEDED or DESIRED is your choice. You can't possibly get the best performance out of your car, with or without mods, without some sort of tune. It can be a reflash, UTEC, eManage, or a simple A/F tuner - like the Apexi.
Much like exhaust and sound - tuning is to performance on the car. Even bone stock cars can gain 10-20 HP from a tune alone. If your FI - a tune would then be a MUST.
