Default Nismo S-Tune Air Filter Element vs K&N

Tried to search for this info already.. with no luck!

NISMO S-TUNE AIR FILTER ELEMENT

vs.

K&N AIR FILTER ELEMENT

Could someone pls point out the main differences between the above two air filter elements?

Is the Nismo one made of..?? Can't tell from the picture really...

I can see most of the ppl have a K&N while very few or none seem to have the Nismo air filter.

Is this cause the K&N is easier and cheaper to buy? Or...?

Thanks in advance for your kind help.

Bye, Carlo

IIRC, the Nismo air filter is a dry filter and I know for sure the K&N is an oiled filter. The K&N will run you about $50 and I bet the Nismo costs more.

The great part about the drop-in K&N is that you can pick it up at any pepboys, autozone, advanced auto, etc.

Yeah, Nismo is a dry filter. I'm all for a dry filter in theory, I don't like oil all over my MAF sensor and intake tract, but despite the downside I think any dry filter is never going to breath as well as an oiled. This is based on nothing other than my own conjecture, but I'm sticking with it.

FWIW, I don't know how the Nismo does, but I know the Amsoil dry filters much better then a K&N, but it also gets pretty restrictive once dust starts collecting on it. Pick your poison; particles and oil past the filter, but with more air as well, or clean air but less of it.

K&N is washable, so reuseable, Nismo is a throwaway item! (36k I think)
