Default HFC installation question

I moved this thread per mod's request:

Will most shops install high flow cats? I hear it is illegal to remove a perfectly working cat..

I have a set of crawfords I want to install and I happen to live like 5 mins away from crawfordZ in nashville.

How much does it usually cost? Do I need to buy a gasket kit or can I use stock gaskets?

Why not ask for shop recommendations in the regional forum?

Did my own install this weekend (swapping my HFCs for RTPs). Not too hard. Took me about 3 hours (damn steering column needed to be diconnected to do the driver's side).. And there is literally *no* room on that side. I have some bruised knuckles after the install and lot's of broken nails. Lol! I reused the same gaskets. No leaks. :-)

you make a solid point, but for all they know the cat could be giving you problems. Just tell them it has been smelling pretty badly when at a stop, and they are too expensive to replace. When all else fails get out the jack stands and a couple extension tools.

HFC's wont smell bad - testpipes do.

It is illegal for an exhaust shop to remove and install a non-OEM cat. They can do it, if you tow the vehicle from the site, as they are for off-road use only....with that said, not everyone, and very few listen.

It is a fairly straight forward DIY install though.

what you need to do is find a shop that dedicates to doing racing parts. I have a shop near me whos gonna install HFC for me for $60.
