Default Too loud!

Hey everyone!... im new on this website and just bought a used custom catback from Cribbie who is also a member on this site....

Ive put a picture of the exhaust below... The thing is... it sounds GREAT...its really loud but can sometimes become TOO loud at high rpms... its basically the stock tips with custom piping... and the stock muffler has just been cut out...

If you look at the picture closely... do you think there is room to put in a resonator.. just like the one in the middle of the car?.... can i add another one?... where can i put it?... i was also thinking about cutting off the 2 stock tips and getting 2 mufflers... but i dont think i can do this because of the bend straight after the tips.... someone please help me... i just wanna quiet it a bit... but dont know how to go about doing this.... Also.. am i losing power by not having a muffler at all?... its REALLY loud!!.... thanks guys!

Sound clips?

And buy new wheels!!! And you'd be able to add 2 smaller resonators

if the muffler is hollowed out, then take it out and put a resonator there or replace muffler. Better yet just get an exhaust designed for the car.

holy crap. That looks almost similiar to the custom borla layout some members here were trying to duplicate. Yeah, without a muffler, its definitely gonna be hella loud. I would love to hear a sound clip of your current set-up.

leave that muffler there and add either two cherry bombs or my favorite's, in line hush power II's from flowmaster, one in each line between that muffler and the tips.

Guys, this is actually a lot like the "po' boys exhaust" thread from a while back.

To tell you the truth, the sound is pretty close to stock- a deep done that doesn't rasp but gets louder at WOT. At idle it's actually very, very quiet. Highway speeds at 70+ can be annoying but under that it's pretty good.

What I would recommend if you want to keep your car like that is to take a look at the po' boys thread and check out what some members did later on in the thread that looks a lot less ghetto.

I'd also suggest using some dynamat in the rear hatch area around the spare tire enclosure to filter out the exhaust droning at highway speeds.

Forget some sort of ghetto fix. Get a quieter cat back exhaust.

OT, but does that chassis bracing make any difference at all for street driving?
