Default do you have headers and HFC/TP......

Are you getting rattle/rasp? I have Stock cat-back and Strup headers. I added Berk metallic HFCs. Now I have a rattle/rasp sound from 2.3k-3k rpm when driving..cant hear it when just reving in neutral. I have searched and read every thread on this forum. I was just wondering who else is having this problem? I was told it was the firing order of the engine that causes this, the stock y-pipe causing this etc etc.

I am just wondering who else is dealing with this issue and how they resolved the problem? I wrapped the cats/y-pipe in thermal wrap and it did not solve the problem for me like it did for another member.

Does rasp sound like a rock in a tin can or am I dealing with a rattle?

i have headers and test pipes and just put my stock exhaust back on....i switched it back to stock from my injen true dual and it's soooo quiet now, but i think i have an exhaust leak haha...it started raining when i was about finished and didn't fell like messing with it anymore, but i really didn't notice any rasp...i definately don't have any rattles...i'm coming from a loud *** exhaust to stock though, so i think it might be harder for me to tell...after i get time to fix the leak then maybe i can tell better.... if it sounds like a rock in a tin can i'd say it's probrobly a rattle so check for clearance issues and maybe adjust the exhaust to give more clearance

i think i know what your expirencing ,..check your stock almost y pipe i noticed alot of resonance coming from there when freeing up the cats with some HFC etc....maybey its flow, i believe my stock exhaust was contributing to my tin noises aswell ....its wierd , though i have less noise solveing a previous issue now solved with my cats i haev a wierd resonance but discovered it was from that horrid y pipe . lmao exhaust is nessesary at least for me. lol

Rattle? Doubt if it is the headers. There is nothing inside the headers.

im telling u man, i got a horrid sound previously after my HFC install, the majority of the sound at 2k to around 3k even when downshifting came from the merge pipe that leads to the stock exhaust pipe. That thing merge collector...it rattled like hell we took it off and found it could be the more flow being trapped trying to escape and being bottlenecked and creating resonance....i know for sure when the exhuast is mated to it that sound will goaway. goodluck.

I have some rasp when the car is cold on the kinetix cats on stock exhaust. I think that this is typical of test pipes or HFCs on stock exhaust.

can you explain a little better? merge pipe = Y-pipe?

"i know for sure when the exhuast is mated to it that sound will goaway. goodluck."

Do you mean an aftermarket exhaust?

i had a tinny rattle type sound start after installing my fast intentions
hfcs, i just had fujitsubo y-pipe and fuji exhaust-was fairly mild deep tone
and after install became considerably louder with the tinny sound
i just ordered some strup headers, curious how sound will change next

I had rasp until I added my X02. I might still have rasp but it's so loud you can't hear it
