I'm doing an alignment on a g35 with rims installing camber kits n what not. .and i noticed he has a Borla TD like me but when pulling it in and revving it up a tad i hear that there was no hiss like mine. .so then i looked underneath after getting it on the lift. .and noticed where the H pipe was he had it clamped tightly and had the big hose clamps pulling the H pipe together. .now why didn't i think of that. . so after im done with his adjustments. .im going to throw up my Z and see if that fixes my hiss. .and i'll repost to let you know. .
BTW. .guy has a huge Bend in the inner lip of front right rim!! DAMN!

BTW. .everything is NICE and tight. .i check and have rechecked anytime i get a chance!. .i think it's my exhaust gases mixing in the H pipe. .or could be cause i have header's and test pipes who knows. ..

Edit: Dammit, beaten by SuperBlack. Word of advice: get resonated test pipes and a Magnaflow x-pipe to replace the Borla H-pipe. Eliminates all sound issues.

no i did it all at once. .xcept for the header's i did after. .but you kno. .your probably right on the tp's making the noise cause this guy doesn't have tp's he's just got cat back Borla. .so i think your right. .although i remember other's with the borla always complaining about that hiss. .and it was cars with out tp's. . so im kinda lost but w/e. .as long as the pipes aren't leaking out any where im fine with the hissing. .

The hiss does come from the H pipe. I heard it myself when my car was on the lift with res-testpipes. With cats on no hiss at all. I was once told that the reason for the hiss is the gauge of the borla pipe is thin compared to other exhausts. Maybe thats why adding the x-pipe seems to eliminate that sound, but we'll soon see when I install it on my exhaust.

yeah i already kno it' s not the test pipes. .but i dont argue anymore. .heh. .i know for a fact it's the exhaust gases mixing within the h pipe smashing into each other and creating that hiss effect from the force of passing through one another.. .the reason this G doesn't have the hiss. .is because he blocked the center pipe of the H pipe. .he just explained it to me. .i asked him why didn't he just do away with the H pipe and use separate pipes. .he said it had better support this way!
Although the Z's need that Equalization between sides of engine through exhaust. .if i were to do away with my H pipe and use Individual pipes rather then an X as well ..i'm thinking the exhaust gases get mixed in the rear muffler anyway. .correct?

That's exactly what mine sounds like with hfc and headers...following the other thread with the magnaflow x-pipe. Seems like the best solution to me. I also recall some old posts saying the welding the h-pipe fixes it as well...dunno how or why...I think the theory was that it is leaky w/all those clamps.
