Question Does STOCK exhaust give us 20 HP???

I was wondering, since the G35 sedan has 260 hp, while the Z and the G35c has 287 and 280 respectively...and the ONLY difference b/t G35sedan and the Z/G35c are the exhaust...
my question is: does our stock exhaust give us 20-27 HP???

Actually, not only the exhaust, but also the intake too. They're quite restrictive on the G35.

I do know that all 3 cars, G35 sedan, G35 coupe, and 350Z have the same 10.3:1 compression ratio. So im guessing the breathing has some part to do with the extra 20 or 7 horses in the Z.

The G35C has basically the same engine as the Z and loses it's supposed 7hp via the intake and exhaust differences. On the other hand, the sedan is a bit different, I think (not sure). It may have a different plenum, and possibly different ECU programming.

in reference to that 7HP loss between my car (g35c) and yalls (350z)...

I was told that the difference is simply for marketing purposes and that both cars put out the exact same amount of power out at the crank. However, you guys do have the advantage with the shorter drive shaft that is also carbon fiber which we dont have . but I think that the g35 sedan might lose hp simply through ECU issues... just my hypothesis though...

I wouldn't doubt the HP difference is mostly marketing, as it is truly in the margin of error anyway.

On the other hand, the G35C is longer with a longer, slightly more restrictive exhaust. The intake also doesn't look to be nearly as free flowing. Those two things could easily cost 7hp.

*shrug*

good points Mannish, hopefully once I can get things straight with Infiniti about what voids warranty and what doesn't then I will be able to even out that gap
