Intake Plenum Info
so whats the deal with this intake plenum? Is crawford the only one who puts one out, or are there other companies? If so, whos making the most gains? Is it a worthwhile mod, or is it just a waste of cash? Anybody have any dynos? And....will this be compatible with a turbo setup in the future?

So. Crawford is making the most gains. Went from a 30% flow difference between the front and rear cylinders to 5%. Hard to do much better than that.
Waste of cash? EVERYONE who has it has loved it. First BOLT ON mod that people say makes a BIG difference. Huge difference is how much easier it revs.
I dyno'd 253rwhp with a drop in k&n filter, grounding kit, and this plenum. I gained 8 peak HP... and 19hp at redline.
Sure... why would it not be compatible with a turbo?

I will have another custom intake manifold on my car soon. It is being developed by another member on this board and should be done in a couple of weeks. Not to take away from Dougs nice product, but it will be a new replacement one, not a modified stock one, which means no core charge and, the stock strut bar should fit... It will look more like the top secret one thats out.. Stay tuned for pics and duno results. I'll be showcasing it at the high Z meet in Conn. on July 12th....

Something this custom, which we investigated... was VERY expensive.
How does this modified plenum affect the air/fuel ratio of the car.I understand it allows the car to breather better up top, but won't it also lean it out if only the plenum is replaced?
I ask because I am using nitrous. Thanks.

It allows the 1st 4 cylinders to get more air, they are starving for it, I don't think it would effect fuel on a N20 run, I am ordering one for squeezing. More air in = good.
I went from an LS1 To an LS6 Manifold squeezing on a Domestic with the NOS 5177 Dry kit and the engine loved it.

I will have more info on the one I'm working on very soon... It should be on my car within 2 weeks and dyno testing and pics will follow as well as cost and availability.. I will also be offering tuning services in NJ with a wide band 02. I plan on running the Apexi SAFC V2 and should have the new wide band very soon to tune it... And of course, dyno results before and after....
What me worry?
Nah.
Rev Limiter SmeV limiter!
Good news though, my Plenum from Doug will be in my hands tomorow!!!
If you spray in D instead of Manual Mode you won't hit the rev it's computer controlled. Manual mode may add a .1 through trial and error but for me it's easier to just pop that thing in D turn off TC and spray and let the computer do it's thing!
I'm not worried about that tenth at this point my car is dialed and it took 7 Dyno runs and 3 sets of plugs to get there!
I just want my 12 second slip membership card

Trex don't forget too that even at below 6k your looking at gaining a tenth, at 6k it's 2 tenths.
If you have a 6MT just be careful because that rev limiter comes up real quick on the juice.
I have an Auto.
I would launch on the bottle through 3rd and then just motor it out to redline on motor through 4th if I had a 6MT but I don't so I am probably the wrong one to ask.
McDan had the right idea with the window switch but hit some snags.

I checked out the intake on a guys car in SJ and it makes sense. airflow no longer restricted, and at the 400 price tag it's basically a 'free' modification. bolts on in like an hour.
I ordered one as soon as i saw it really existed.
I mean..jesus 400 bucks..is a joke. i build motorcycles man, 400 bucks won't get you a decent footpeg.

The new plenum I was talking about should be on my car in about 2 weeks. Yes you will be able to keep the stock strut tower bar and the stock engine cover will fit too. It will also be lighter than stock weighing in around 7lbs... It will be fully polished with mandrel bent runners... Price should only be around the $550 range... OF course pics and dyno results will be up as soon as its installed... And my car will be on display at the Conn meet on July 12th and I'll be taking orders... PLease email me if you are interested or want to be put on the waiting list... Also, full length headers, cat pipes, & Y-pipes will be available shortly....
