x-pipe for borla TD with strup tp's

ok. I installed the strups a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was a exhaust leak turns out that it isnt. got it on a lift lookin for the leak and found that right where the h-pipe is there is the RASP that everyone keeps talking about. It just sounds like the air doesnt flow that well through the hipe. all of the rasp is concentrated in that area.

So I am in the market for a well made/flowing x-pipe to see if that is the cure for my rasp. I have searched the internet and my350z for it but all that came up was effin mustang x-pipes or generic crappy ones. BTW the piping is 2.25

any help in the right direction is appreciated as always.

I have had the same problem since I installed HFC's with my Borla exhaust.
Here are a couple of threads that might help:

Thread with sound clips of the above setup

Im not positive but I think the X-pipe from Fast Intentions would fit. From what I have read it is one of the best on the market for the G35

forced_04 Mar 17, 2008 11:11 AM

ok fast intentions said that I have to come in to get measured and thats isnt cost wise since I have to drive 5 hours to get there.

with the x-pipe muffler thingy where can I find that and does it affect flow at all?

what does a cross section of one of those look like?

thanks!!

Here is a before and after on my Z. It made such a difference, I love my Borla now. I have been meaning to get a better video, but I keep forgetting to.

I think if i go with the muffled x-pipe I will get rid of the resonators and put in straight pipes with slip fit so I can go back anytime I want.

would that maybe add to much noice and possibly give the drone back in the mufflers.

forced_04 Mar 17, 2008 11:37 AM

hey schroed did you get the straight x-pipe or the muffled x-pipe. If you got the muffled one where did you get it from and for what price?

Thanks for the help!!!

I think Fast Intentions uses Magnaflow anyways, so just get an X-pipe that others here use and call it a day.

forced_04 Mar 17, 2008 12:56 PM

been looking on magnaflow and all I can find is the straight pipe not the muffled one.

meaj82 Mar 17, 2008 01:13 PM

Here is the magnaflow part # 11385. This is the one I have. http://performancepeddler.com I got mine from here.

THE_SCHROED Mar 17, 2008 01:48 PM

I got mine from Summit and it is that same one.

I also found this one.. think it would get rid of it the rasp or be way too loud

meaj82 Mar 17, 2008 02:31 PM

You will make the rasp worse. Dont get it.

forced_04 Mar 17, 2008 02:40 PM

i almost ordered it on impulse.that was a close one. do you have experience with a straight x-pipe(kinda sounds like it)

THE_SCHROED Mar 17, 2008 02:44 PM

I heard my friends mustang with a straight x pipe and it sounds horrible. Really raspy, I wouldn't change mine at all just the magnaflow perforated x with test pipes.

forced_04 Mar 17, 2008 02:51 PM

its a done deal thanks!

meaj82 Mar 17, 2008 03:39 PM

You are going to fall in love with your car again. Enjoy!

05Z33 Mar 18, 2008 03:07 PM

I went with a regular X-pipe and it was a horrible mistake. Then I followed the advise of meaj82 and THE_SCHROED on the X-pipe muffler and the car sounds better than ever, no rasp or hiss at all. You will even feel a gain in torque in your lower gears.
