Default Magnaflow Tru X-pipe on Borla (UPDATE)

Well I just placed an order for a Tru X-pipe from magnaflow. I saw that some Borla owners have been using the X-pipe muffler and they eliminated the rasp and hiss. I chose to use a non muffler X-pipe to see if I could get the same results without losing the exhaust tone I have now. Also I'm sure some of you Borla owners are wondering the same thing. I'll be getting a dyno as soon as I install the X-pipe. My current numbers are 261HP and 241TQ. I'm not expecting much of a gain if any but maybe I can eliminate the rasp.

I've been considering this as well. I recently installed resonated TPs and have noticed the dreaded hiss/rasp/rattling.

Thanks for giving the non-muffler option a shot. Keep us posted!

Edit: For reference sake did you go with the 2.5" one (model number 10791)? Thanks in advance!

Good thread...If I had more time/inclination I'd be doing the same. Did you take measurements first to make sure it will fit?

Are you talking about the one pictured here on top?

I'm getting the 2.25 inlet/outlet so that it matches up with Borlas pipe size and it measures 12 inches total length. The H pipe on the borla is 18 inches long so I'll cut the H portion off and weld in the X pipe so that I can retain the clamps on both ends. 350enophile it's the one on the top. As soon as it comes in I will install and post before and after dyno results.

Good to know. For some reason I thought the piping on the Borla was 2.5". Here's to hoping that this works well!

I just installed the X-pipe good and bad news. Goodnews is the hiss is gone. Bad news now the rasp is worse and sounds horible. Sounds like a japaness fart can and I never thought I'd say that. It is a loud rattling sound right at the X-pipe I was hoping it was just a leak but I heard it myself under the lift.

I did feel an improvement on TQ but not worth the sound. I'll be ordering the x-pipe muffler if this continues. I'm hoping that it is just a matter of breaking it in but highly doubtful. I'll give it a week if I can just tolerate it for that long.

Well thanks for trying something new...

This guy here is supposed to be trying to just block the h-pipe and run it true dual with no crossover at all:

Maybe try that first before shelling out more cash.
