Im gonna take a second to put on my bomb squad suite, but here goes... This guy took off his exhaust. I love the way it sounds, and was wondering if there is any harm in running my z without the exhaust... comments, flamming, bombing anyone?

There is no harm, but personally I think the sound is undesirable. Trust me, it sounds like *** in person, I wouldn't try it unless you have too.

 

Illegal and major chance for asphyxiation. Not a good idea to have exhaust gases pouring up into your car.

it's cool if you wanna set a record for being pulled over the most times for a loud @ss exhaust.

 

Good way to get pulled over, good way to kill your O2 sensors... other than that, can't think of many benefits. It will likely reduce power too. The exhaust is there for a reason.

 

Sounds better in the video. I had to take out the pipe before the actual muffler piece to weld it, had to move the car up the drive about 5 ft, Y-Pipe to nothing sounded like epic fail, the only thing making that sound good is the fact that the microphone isn't expressing how loud it is in person.

 

Yeah, it is extremely LOUD. You'd have to drive that thing with some earplugs or sound-proof headsets so prevent your self from going deaf. If you drove in traffic, you'd be making everyone around you deaf. This idea = FAIL.

 

yeah,,, i want my car to sound like a nascar. J/K! I figured it wasnt a great idea in the first place, but this is why i asked about it.... I think im just gona go with some test pipes and call it a day. For sure DAVIDV, "this guy" is the best way to keep the fire off your back.

 

Wouldnt it technically be most times for a loud non existant exhaust?

 

I took my muffler off for a day and that was the longest day I have ever went through... DO not do it. I did it b/c I was installed my Gt spec brace and then it got late... I dreed the clock to turn 4 in the pm to drive that thing home. It sounded like d1ck.... Unless you like the way a civic sounds with no mufflers then this is for you...

I know this ricer that traded in his civic for a new 08 350z, and I feel so sorry for that car...first thing he did to it was take off the muffler...my advice is DON'T do it.

well first off "this guy" with no exhaust is wearing what looks like batting gloves while driving. Second off it sounds like serious a$$. Third your taste sucks if you think this still sounds like a vq tone and all. Hope you get many tickets

 

Don't do it! It will be annoying after a while and just lead to problems like it was said above.

 

To the OP, i can understand how you can think this is a sick *** sound. I do agree with you because i had done it before buying my Injen TD. I basically cut off the muffler and ran a straight pipe from the y-pipe. It sounded MEAN.. but a little bit TOO loud... Also, i wouldnt recommend this to anyone because of the significant decrease in power. The car dident feel like it was pulling.

So coming from experience and someone that has DONE it... DONT DO IT!
