Default Buying intake... NEED HELP!!!

I am thinking of either buying the AEM, INJEN, or NISMO intake. I want the NISMO cause I like the all black intake, and it is around the same price as the other 2. Power wise, how do they all compare?

Here is some help:

The Nismo, from what I have heard, has problems. The hoses they used were rubber and not silicon, so they have instructed dealers to stop selling them until they come up with the silicon parts. However, keep in mind that I read this on a forum, so take it with a grain of salt. Also, I think the Nismo is much more expensive (as a percentage).

I have the Injen and I love it. I have the polished with the black hoses, but you CAN get it in all black. I purchased it from conceptzperformance.com for $250 and they provided excellent service. I think everyone around here really likes this vendor. If you do buy the Injen, I have an install tip for you. When it comes time to insert the large silicon hose through the old intake port, use some...uh...sex lube. It makes things much easier and it is water soluble, so it washes away easily.

As for the AEM, I think that it is easier to install, comes in all black, but otherwise I have no experience with it.

Hope this helps.

LOL- that is the funniest thing I've read in a while. I wish I would have thought of that.

I have the Injen as well and love it.

I have the AEM. I and my friend has an Injen. Dont really see the difference in performance but the Injen sure does look alot better. Nismo and AEM i are the same(nismo just has a bypass valve included) its just you pay ALOT more for nismo.

K&N has an intake for the Z and one of their R&D technicians that dynoed it earlier today told me this -

"I got some pretty good numbers an avg of 5 to 7 with a peak of 10hp. Not bad considering its like 100 degs out here in Calif"

Default air intake numbers

i would agree with the numbers that Igor posted- on most engines that i have worked on there is about 5 HP to be had by using a K&N type filter, and depending on a number of things, you might get a bit more if the pipe length and diameter is correct for the air flow velocity at the flow demanded at the powerpeak or torque peak (very unlikely to get both peaking at the same or even similar rpm), then you might see a couple more horses and a few ft-lbs. Will you ever notice- probably not, but bragging rights are everything, no??
