Default Agency power pulleys worth it???

Was wondering if pulleys would add some power to my 2004 350z roadster?? Makes sense that it would...looking for quicker acceleration...I remember reading some time ago about pulleys not doing anything for our cars possibly even being worse for our cars...does anybody have them installed on there cars?? Did you feel power gains?? lose??? Any input would be greatly appreciated...trying to stay NA for awhile and looking for descent gains from bolt-ons...right now just jwt pop charger and 5/16 iso thermal spacers...Berk high flow cats on the way...thanks!

Pulleys were a popular mod in 2004 when choices were limited. Since then lots of alternative bolt-ons are available.

Not sure what they are worth to you.

Just last night I installed the UR underdrive crank pulley. You can check out my post in the roadster section.

The first thing you notice are the revs go up a lot faster with ease. You barely get on the throttle and the needle jumps. I haven't had time to drive the car a lot, but they say it takes 5-7 days to get the most hp, when the ECU adjust to everything.

I plan on staying N/A too. I have no regrets on the mods I have installed so far. You can check out my sig. I have posted a review of every mod I have if you do a search.

There are gains, they may not be much but they are enough that you notice them. Looking at the stock crank and the UR one you can not only see a huge difference but feel how heavy that stock one is!

well until dyno sheets can be proven to show it seems it only saves weight...

Well all I know is what my car drove and felt like before I did the crank pulley. To me the car rev's so freely and pulls harder than it did before. That is my butt dyno. No one thinks its as good as regular dyno, lol.

Woo hoo, don't just take my word for it. If you check out Zfrenzy.com. The moderators on there have a supercharged Z (Auburn Z). They have owned 3 different Z's. They said the pulley gave some of most noticable gains for an N/A. More gains than the HFC's, in their opinion.

I also heard that the crank pulley is the one that matters the most. If you want to save some money and time. If not then do all three. Let us know what you think of them!

Those are some nice mods. You should be really happy with the results. Next up for me will be some tint and HFC's.

why is this in the intake/exhaust section?

Kenpo, your butt dyno is obviously tuned well.

i am no expert on this but i understand the physics behind it. ok, first off, no hp is "gained" from this mod. what you are doing is releasing hp by removing weight from the rotating mass. the more weight you remove from the rotating mass through mods like crank pulleys and lighter rims, the more efficient the engine will be.

however you should be aware of what you are doing when replacing all of your pulleys. when you swap the stock a/c compressor and alternator pulleys, you are effectively under-driving them, as the mods name suggests. this could lead to charging and a/c compression problems. doing all three of the pulleys is amplifying this effect exponentially. now, be aware that i have absolutely no idea if this is even a problem in the 350Z but you might want to take a second and do a thorough search of this.

LOL, If you think about how much power it takes to drive a bigger wheel, like the monster trucks. Those trucks have over 2000 horsepower to push those wheels. Now convert that to the smaller pulley. The smaller the pulley, the less power it takes away from the engine. The difference is something you can feel!

It does underdrive the components but Unorthodox Racing has researched and they know a more than safe percentage of when to stop underdriving. I have the underdriven crank pulley. They even have it broke down to how many watts your stereo can be without any issues. They reccommend 600 watts RMS. That is 1200 max. I am not planning any huge builds so that has never bothered me. I don't want a 4000 watt max rockford power sub behind my seat anyway.

However they also offer a pulley that does not underdrive it is the same size as the stock one, just less weight. I have done this mod on one of my previous cars and it performed great.

I love the RSR. It has a nice deep tone and then above 3K RPMs it has a very exotic tone to it. It gets a ton of compliments. Not ricey or farty at all! I couldn't have been more pleased with it. I have a video on the forums and on streetfire.net. If you can't find it send me a pm I can get you the link.
