Default How important is the Injen Heat Shield?

I did my Injen CAI install last night and because of my Borla Headers I can't install the heat shield. Is it very important?

I installed mine, but I am not sure of the importance. With the right tools it is not hard to get on. I would suggest a finger ratchet with a short 14mm socket. Or, you could use a long extension with a pivot joint on the end and the 14mm socket.

Finally, a reply, thanks.

I finally got a hold of Injen Technologies, and they told me that it is not that important.

I was unable to install the heatsheild with my Injen CAI and 1000 miles later have still not had a problem. Its probably a good idea to try putting it on, but if you can't I wouldn't worry about it too much.

the car is very sensitive to intake temperature readings... i would suggest you do your best to get a much heat insulation as possible to any intake you do for this car...

the aem, being inside the fender, is not getting enough direct cold air, even though it is seperated from the engine bay... as a result, its not making as much HP as it should like the injen, which is lying in direct cool air while driving....

the stock air box is fantastic when it comes to temperature readings, but its velocity stack is quite small...
