Anyone know anything about this product other than its expensive ?

 

Looks like it is a carbon fiber replacement for the stock airbox??? I don't see a reason why anyone would do this...... other than for looks if you're into that

I suspect there's more to it (a ram duct that hangs down - like the gruppe-M) ?

 

No by looking at the shape it creates a venturi to accelerate the air into the intake. Might work. Pulls cold air straight from the front and no unnecessarily long intake path. Only downside is dyno'ing might not show much gain b/c the air being pulled in is static, not 30+mph of air shooting at it. I think with venturis the harder air is pushed in the more it accelerates. Anyone confirm that?

 

that looks like the e46 gruppeM intake. looks exatcly alike.

 

if theres no scoop, I don't think its going to get much of a ram effect (Venturi or not).
