They MUST be high. Who in their right mind would pay that much for that little piece of crap-and then cut a hole in their bumper to accomodate it? Oh yeah, the CF air box is a real steal too @ $1100.00. I mean between the two you would probably yield 10 HP for $1600.00. No thanks.

Hmmm, so I assume that you have to buy the scoop and intake to get to the $1000+ figure you guys are talking about. Correct?

I went down to my car to see how I could build an intake scoop...

I like how it follows the shape of the front... it slants at the same angle as the light...

I can probably build my own and lay fiber glass over it...

maybe ill try something like that...

I was thinking of making a tube that goes from about where the filter from the AEM CAI intake is and up into the opening of the stock air box...

the opening of the one I have designed in my head will take up the whole left side of my grill from the licence plate to the bumper...

Ill figure something out...

But either way Im keeping my stock intake box...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The material is less heat abosorbive... unlike a metal / hard plastic tube...

Its like what Crawford Z did with the Plenum... He improved on the design and perfected it...

All our airbox needs is an opening infront of it... which the mines does...

I saw a Nismo type R drop in filter... It was WHITE and looked porse... Id like to find some of those.. if any one knows a place

insulate your airbox and intake tube with starter wrap.

Drove my friends car with AEM CAI. My car is noticably faster with just Borla.
I agree that our stock airbox is good. I think CAIs for the Z are worthless!

No doubt that's the one shown here

I have one on order direct from Mines. US$90 seems like a lot to me. Shipping must be costing you a bit. Keep in mind they only claim 1 to 2hp increase which is only as much as a filter so don't expect too much.

Ordered it from a friends local shop who deal with Mines directly. Cost is about US$65 inc shipping and taxes. Doesn't help you much as it's still in another part of the world which would drive shipping up.

I know there are some vendors on this forum that advertise Mines products and would be local to you (at least in the same country). Perhaps try contacting them? 6500 yen is only about US$54 so you should be able to get it cheaper than $90.

Hang on, are you still talking about the carbon one which requires cutting of the bumper or the FRP one which replaces the intake on the airbox and is a bolt on replacement for the stock part. Have a look at the link I posted above, I'm referring to the one at the bottom of that page.

They're two different items. The FRP one is not the same part as the carbon one.
