Your K&N intake has some kind of a heat shield on it, so the greddy intake would actually be a trade down. Short ram intakes with no heat shield on the Z (made by anyone) will be worse than stock.

Prior to owning the Z, I had a 94 RX-7. When I bought the car, it had a Greddy Airinx intake on it. Two things about it bothered me. The first was that it didn't do what a filter is supposed to do FILTER. When I pulled the intakes after driving the car 3k miles home, there was a lot of dirt in the intake pipes behind the filters. They simple didn't do the job.

Secondly, as others have mentioned, they suck hot air into the engine. It may not be a huge deal on the Z, but on the RX-7 that can be a real engine killer. I ended up changing out to a K&N filter with a heat shield.

On my '06 Z, I believe the general consensus on this board that the stock system is probably the best combination of good filtration, air flow, and intake temps.

Please note no one mentions Greddy. Also take note of which ones are referred to the most. Hope this helps.

I'm not defending GReddy filters.

GReddy makes excellent products (exhaust, intercoolers, intake manifolds, bov, etc).

However, their intakes are not up to par.

Even the top secret short ram? It may be pricey, but it eliminates the MAF pipe, and plugs right into the tube.
