VQ35HR Injen True Dual Rattle...
I just purchased a 2008 Z, and I bolted on the Injen True Dual CAI. I am definitely not new to the car modification world, but I am experiencing a gurgling/rattling noise under the right side of the hood at 1450-2000 rpm's that I have never heard before. It is most apparent at 1750, and I have no idea what is causing the rattling. All the bolts have been tightened thoroughly, and I cannot see where any metal on metal rubbing could be occurring. My only educable guess would be that the exhaust tone in the specified RPM range rattles something in the CAI system. (Not unlike a subwoofer rattling parts of the car at some frequencies and not others.) Admittedly, I have only worked with short ram CAI's, but I really cannot see what is causing this/how I screwed up. Anyone experience this? If so post please.
(Also, the sound occurs at no other RPM than the ones I mentioned above.)
Thanks for the help!

Actaulyl i had teh same problem but it's such an easy fix. If u have what I had, it's the driver side arm. There is proablby like a couple centimeters of clearance between teh arm and the (wall? idk how to explain it but I think you get it) that will hit when the engine is turned on. At first I just put a piece of soft absorbant material inbetween and it never rattled again. I then took it in and they just rotated the arm and it ahd enough clearnce that what i put was no longer necessary. Hope this helps

First of all, I'm set on keeping my car N/A, so not only is a CAI paramount and one of the most appropriate and easy places to start, but the power gains exponentially-ish grow with each mod put on afterward. Find me a wholehearted attempt at an N/A build with stock filters and I will grovel to you for a month.
Secondly, the true dual CAI is not a short ram, meaning that it is a new setup instead of a replacement. A true cold air intake setup moves the air filters to the farthest and coolest possible location from the engine, consequently allowing it to make more gains (admittedly not much more) than a short ram.
Thirdly: K&N pop-filters are 300% less aesthetically appealing. (Those words mean that they don't look as cool.)
Fourthly: I fixed the rattling
Fifthly: Injen claims that they have a "tuned" true CAI setup, negating the need for an ECU reflash. I took their word on it, but instead of sitting around forums whining at my fiscal decisions, why don't you check it out. If it's false, sue Injen Technology on the grounds of false advertising, get rich, buy a ****1ng Lamborghini, and shut up.

Well let me pick some bones:

Well after I do all the reasonable N/A mods first that will directly effect the OEM sensors so that only one reflash is necessary. I would also like to keep it legal to avoid trouble with the local authorities. Exhaust (Fast Intentions "Intimidator") and Nismo headers are on the way. After that I intend to do port polishing, weight reduction, camshafts and valves (if the cams are aggressive enough), HFC (shh...don't tell the cops. They can't tell right?) and the eventual stroker kit with the necessary reinforcements that go along with it. I really am against turbocharging an engine that wasn't specifically designed for it. It's a shame you can't really get that kind of power out of an N/A...
Well it seems like you fixed the rattle. Glad you got it resolved. Pissed the **** outta me so i just stared it all down. Did you end up putting something inbetween the intake tueb and teh metal or did you twists and turn the intake arm so it woudlnt' hit? Congrats btw
I have gotten a couple pm's about this rattle and where it is exactly so I thought this picture woudl help. As you can see in the red circle that white piece of foam I used that completly took away the rattle. You could also manuver the pipe so their is enough clearnace. I'd done both, and they both work equalily well. Hope this helps
Was that really necessary?
OP, glad you fixed the problem. There is absolutely nothing more annoying then buying a part for your car and not being 100% satisfied.
