It actually sounds a lot better than I thought. The last time I heard a flowmaster on a Z, I heard rattling all over the place, like someone kicking around a tin-can. I wanna see some acceleration videos inside and outside the Z, because it's gonna sound different "under-load" and that's what people are gonna be hearing while you're driving.

It doesn't let any of the VQ sound through.

Sounds similar to stock, maybe like a Nismo.

I'd be curious how it sounds on acceleration.

Sounds like classic 40 to me. Super 40 is a deeper sound.

Here's a pic from under the car.. I'll try to get some video of outside the car driving soon, just trying to find a good place to do it.

so let me get this right, you're saying:
a tacked on muffler for 450 is a good deal but a full cat back exhaust that was designed specifically for the 350Z for 1k is a bad deal

is that right?

Yeah I thought they did more? Just replaced with flowermaster muffler, no piping change? How did that come to 450?

How much is the muffler? $450 for a custom axle-back is pretty expensive. $450 is for like a full-catback system.

Well I bought the muffler at retail price from the shop .. just didn't feel like waiting on ebay. The muffler was $200 .. the install was $250 for a "customer job" which is a rip off because all they did was just weld maybe 2 pipes.

Anyone familiar with the pricing? How much does a shop charge to install that setup normally?

Um not much. Maybe 50 bucks to weld it on.

that looks like an 80 series muffler to me I dont see any 40 series mufflers that route the exhaust that way besides the 80 series which is made to mount transversely like that... are you positive its a 40 series?

dont get me wrong I like how it sounds I just really want to know what muffler that is

Hmm it could be an 80 series... or maybe an upside down 40 series? I'm going to get the part number off of it tomorrow and look it up online.
