I would say purely cosmetic. I have one, I installed it because I liked it. I put it in the same time as my pop charger so I cant say if it really did anything but I like it, so thats all that matters

Also, its really easy to install, I used an X-acto knife and cut thru the bumper. I used the TiTek duct, and the rivets that came with it are garbage. 2 of the stems pulled all the way thru, and the other 2 broke off too late. I drilled them out and replaced with some stainless ones from the hardware store.

Like he said, purely cosmetic. IF there were any gains to be had, it would meerely be cooler air, NOT a ram effect. But at those speeds, you'd be getting cooler air anyways because the front of the Z is a huge opening, so the duct isn't gonna offer any more cooling effect, then the air being pushed up into your stock bumper during driving anyways.

Remember. Once you cut that hole, there is no turning back!!

There's no noticeable difference while driving. I'm running some tests on my TiTek carbon fiber duct in the thread Halfass9872 aptly linked.

The jury's still out on whether or not it yields any performance gains. Once I get done with my finals, I'll be able to finish the tests. But take a look on that thread. I think it will answer pretty much all of your questions. There are a lot of opinions, but I'm hoping to settle the whole thing with some hard evidence showing how things really are - one way or the other.

So far, it looks like performance gains in terms of "ramming" air are virtually negligible (in the realm of less than 1% increase in mass air flow). The potential gains in the area of intake air temperature haven't been properly tested. So far, preliminary testing has shown temperatures lower by between 1-5 degrees, but it's just preliminary.

I'll post the results when I finally get the chance, so if you're interested, keep an eye on that thread (or for an entirely new one once I've completed testing).

As for which types to go for... if you're dead set on getting one, TiTek and Varis are the way to go. Both are available in carbon fiber (some are offered in a matte black finish). Varis is substantially more expensive, but it has a nicer carbon fiber finish, if you ask me. I think it's probably a higher quality product, but a duct is a duct is a duct. The TiTek looks practically as good, and they're both real carbon fiber. If you want a nicer looking carbon fiber finish, go for Varis. You'll pay more (approx. twice as much). I went with TiTek and am perfectly satisfied.
