Default Please Help! Exhaust Opinions

I am currently looking for an exhaust for my Z.. I have been doing a lot of research on this and have come up with choosing Nismo, Stillen, or possibly the HKS if the price is right ( or the knock off XO2 ) Which would you guys suggest if I am looking for mainly sound and performance?

HKS
Nismo
Stillen

I am biased, but I have had both the Nismo and the HKS. Both are good choices for N/A setups, and are decently quiet. The Nismo is a lot more mild looking than the HKS, but it's all preference.

^ +1. I have the nismo with berk hfc's and think its like pure audible sechs, but I've also heard the HKS and liked that too. I wanted to retain the stock sound and stock look so that made my choice easy. Either way you cant go wrong with those two. Good luck, and just a little fyi, once you start modding, you never stop.

For sound and performance as well as price, I find the Bassani very hard to beat.

Nismo has one of the best sounds, but not exactly known for the performance.

I initially was looking @ the Nismo exhaust but was put on to something a tad better IMO Fujitsubo Legalis R. I just installed it 2 weeks ago and I love it.... contemplating adding HFC to it now...and possibly a new y pipe

Thanks guys, I am really torn between the Nismo and the HKS... I was leaning toward the HKS until I read these posts.. I want an aggressive sound and definetly louder than stock. I have heard both but niether in person just youtube. Performance would be a plus but mostly doing it for sound. Nismo looks really nice but worth sacrificing the appearance if the HKS is better sounding.

I recommend that you:

a. Set a budget.
b. Decide what configuration is best for you. Single. Dual. One or two mufflers.
c. Listen before buying.

they will all give very similar levels of performance, so it really comes down to what meets your budget, and what you like the looks/sound of

there are no exhausts that are going to make any significant power more than any other till you get much more involved with engine mods

My budget is around what the nismo or HKS costs, I am not going above that. Since the performace will be the same for most exhaust systems I am pretty much just going for sound. Life I said I listened to the HKS and Nismo online but it can only give me so much.. I think I may be leaning to the Nismo looks real nice and from what I am gathering the sound level is the same and both sound sick.

hks sounds like crap. It completely changes up the VQ sound.

the NISMO is a nice setup - fits great, sounds similar to stock but a bit deeper

Try hitting up a local meet. Hearing the exhausts in person and not online, will help make up your mind. I'm sure there are Z meets up in mass. Take rides in a nismo z and then in a hks z, if possible.
