Default How long to wait before starting car after sealing exhaust with High Temp Red RTV?

If I start it too soon, will it just blow out all the gasket material?

Yes.
If you really want the best results, let it fully cure to the RTV specs.

My guess is it's gonna just blow out reguardless. RTV and hot exhaust aren't supposed to go together. High temp means it can take the heat of being on your engine, NOT the tempratures found on your exhaust.

normally you dont use it on exhaust. it does work to stop a leak for a quick fix.

Its not meant to get as hot as the exhaust gasses but it can work.
The exhaust tubing and flanges don't get nearly as hot as the exhaust gas is and this is how it is able to work.

Yes, I was very surprised in the beginning when I first saw it in use, but it does work.

I also found that you need to let it fully cure if you want it to last.

It will hold up if you use the right type of silicone. I recommend the copper Permatex for use on exhaust flanges.

The big question here is, why do you need this in the first place?? I've never had an exhaust leak.

I think you should use the Copper stuff on exhaust parts.

Try tightning all your bolts down a little bit at a time till you have them
all tight then get them tourqed down to spec's.

Fast Intentions Test Pipes don't use a gasket at that area. They just specify to use the Red RTV.

Is this up top where the header and TP meet? Maybe order the copper gasket from berk that they supply. If the RTV doesnt work of course.

Im not going to dispute Fast Intentions install directions, but I personally would rather make a set of gaskets. I had to do this with my Berk's at the Y pipe no leaks here. GL

Search works. I had to resort to this due to leaks at the Cat-to-Y pipe. Though I didn't plan that well.. I need food, and can't drive the car (cure-time=24 hours). Time to dig in the cupboards.

..hoping to be leak free
