I will respond before someone comes and bashes you to search google (which is what you should have done).

A header is the part of the exhaust that is connected to your engine and leads down to the piping and out the back through the mufflers.

Bigger pipe = less of a choke point = more power. In a lot of states, like California, it is illegal to change to a non-CARB approved header, or any header that deletes o2 sensors and cats. It makes the car louder usually, but its usually worth the gain in performance in most cars.

A header allows more airflow to flow into the engine, translating into higher end pull along without losing bottom end. In other words, maximum horsepowers.

Um, a header(s) is installed on the exhaust side, not the intake side. Allows more airflow OUT of the engine, not into it. Or am I missing something in your reply?

Yes, the header is installed on the exhaust side, but in return allows more higher intake air to be coming into the intake system, freeing up more powers. The stock headers are restricting very much and cannot free up with all this hidden power.

More airs flow into the intake side, allowing more power. Also header, keep the intake system cooler, allowing air coming in to be cooler to the touch. Very effectves.

I figured that sarcasm would go right over peoples heads lol

anyways - header gains on the Z are very minimal and the labor to install them is pretty intensive. not really worth while. could take 4-8 hrs to install headers for the Z. not typical for most cars.

if your z is 03-06, a plenum spacer will net you good bang for the buck. for any year z, test pipes and high flow cats are often the best value/performance purchase.
