Fast Intentions 3" Dual Exhaust
I've been running this exhaust for the past two months and always wanted to throw up some pictures but lost the camera memory card from the initial install. So got it back up on the rack at a friends shop and took some pictures. Sadly it doesn't have that perfect, out of the box shine anymore from all the driving I've done but the exhaust still does it's thing.
Like most people who drop the money on a dual 3" exhaust, I'll say this setup surpassed all my expectations on quality and sound. Everything is flanged and came together fast with precise location. What really impressed me was the welds. Working in a machine and seeing my fair share of the good and bad, I noticed the ground and polished welds in the inner diameter of the piping at each flange right away. Didn't have to tweak anything for it to sit right. Maybe I'm just used to flip fit exhausts and the head aches that come with them.
In case anyone was wondering because I'm sure it may be asked... Yes, I know a dual 3" exhaust is overkill. In fact I'm well aware that I may have lost power do to turbulence. The thing is I don't want to buy another setup once I bolt up the twin turbos in the near future. Right now the pipes necks down to 2 1/2" bolting to the cats. Which will all be modified in the future, but at least I can enjoy the sound.
My setup is a little different than the one posted on youtube (link posted below). It doesn't have a cross over pipe/xpipe, instead I had them make an H pipe and also added resonators with the advice of Tim from Sound Performance. Mufflers, 4 1/2 tips (5" tips on the youtube car), and resonators were all made by Sebring Tuning. Personally I love the tips.
Anyways, trying not to leave anything out to those that are interested. The car is loud but not obnoxious. Real deep with an aggressive howl is the only way I can describe it. Mine is little different than the youtube video. I know we all have our opinions on exhaust but most setups I've heard on Z's have a lot of rasp to them which is what I aimed to get away from. Just wanted to thow this out there for Fast Intentions seeing how they did such a good job and came through for me. Feel free to ask me any question, I plan to organize a sound clips with a few flybys soon.
Thanks
-Rob

There's a few reason why it was made with an H-pipe. The first was Fast Intentions request not to make it a "cross over" pipe do to the fact they wouldn't be able to use regular UPS shipping with the would be welded mid section. With that in mind, they designed up a revised version using resonators to help with the free flowing concept. I may be hit or miss with some of the facts but I'm sure they'd be more than happy to explain the little details. Plus Tim from SP gave me a lot of reasurence with the H pipe seeing how they picked XX amount of power when they modded theirs to include one.
I'd probably have to agree with the notion that an x-pipe eliminates rasp more than any resonator, although I'm sure the right muffler and resonator combo will do the job. On the other hand, like I said in my original post, most exhausts don't have an H or x-pipe and again in my opinion are raspy. That may just be in the design to have that kind of sound, to each to their own right. It's all about what you want and like.
But yeah…. I know I need a drop. I've kind of chilled out on the modding since dropping all that money on the wheels and exhaust. Thinking about getting the Tein Comfort Sports at this point. 99% of my driving will be on the street and in a straight line. If I road race, or auto cross I guess I'll have to deal with that performance loss.
