Default Test Pipes or Plenum Space?

I am trying to figure out which toy to buy next for my baby...

Resonated Test pipes or Plenum spacer.

I would like a better exhaust sound but can't afford the whole exhaust at this point. In the meantime, I have a friend trying to talking me into a plenum spacer instead.... I can't decide.

If I do the space, its will be Motordyne. I still can decide the brand of test pipes, if I go that route? Don't want the "ricey" sound.

What's everyone's thoughts. Can anyone persude me one way or another?

both?

test pipes aren't that expensive...and if your going to do headers down the line you might wana think about getting some longtube headers with your plenum spacer since your going to have to take off all that stuff anyway....

Spacer. The exhaust setup will sound much better when you do it in one shot IMO

I recommend both. Test pipes and plenum spacers are the two biggest bang for the buck mods you can do to the Z.

They make good gains and they don't cost much at all.

If you can only do one, and you have to consider the pro/cons there are two significant differences:
1) The spacer is practically stealth. It makes the gains but is otherwise invisible.
2) Test pipes are a little riskier with respect to smog testing. They can be easily heard, smelled and seen by a smog tech.

Some people want their mods to be stealth. Some want them to be outwardly apparent. And some just want all the HP gains they can get.
So you can choose your mods accordingly.

After that, a catback will be the next best bang for the buck mod. They are smog legal but they cost more.

What year/what engine do you have?
If it is DE do a 5/16 MD ISO spacer. I have ended up with a deeper toned exhaust as well as more power.
If it is a RevUP do a spacer and mrev2 to see some nice gains.
As stated by Tony these are stealth mods.
Test pipes --- not so stealth : loud, smell, rasp...

What everyone else has said. They're both affordable. Get whichever one first, then the other later....or both at the same time. Have fun

for me, test pipes...install was easier than taking out the strutbar etc. etc. for the spacer. just make sure you soak the bolts with pb blaster a while beforehand to break hem loose easier
