if you want something loud, go non resonated test pipes, and a non resonated 3" single exhaust. i would look into the JIC Titanium.

i have non resonated test pipes, and a single exhaust would be the easiest way but im getting a rear bumber that would look real stupid with just one exhaust pipe

My old MD single WITH stock cats and resonated MD pipe, it is MUCH louder now - maybe too loud - with the test pipes in.

Here are some dyno pulls:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rk1TX30aE40&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rk1TX30aE40&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/j3NWDUKGrXU&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/j3NWDUKGrXU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Revving on the dyno:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/N8ht52FLfio&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/N8ht52FLfio&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Drive-by:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Tb0dMHO5B28&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Tb0dMHO5B28&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

In-car acceleration:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-tJWGSjDE50&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-tJWGSjDE50&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Then we went to Thunderhill for a full HPDE track day:

10 minutes on track:

Drive away of my car overall:

Does anyone know what the inside of md's muffler is like? Is it like a straight through design that just splits into 2 pipes? Or is it chambered or some other design?

The system is designed in a modular format to allow you to change parts and adjust the system to your particular needs.

For example, the XYZ pipe has three different attachments or modules to choose from. The straight pipe, a resonator and a catalytic converter.

XYZ WITH STRAIGHT PIPE

XYZ WITH RESONATOR

THE XYZ PIPE WITH HIGH FLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTER (not attached in picture)

Of the various options, the resonated XYZ is the most commonly used. The resonator greatly reduces or eliminates rasp. Particularly when test pipes are used.

Its a straight through perforated core. No chambers or baffles. The midpipe muffler uses a perforated "Y" at a very low divergence angle for smooth flow into 2 pipes. This design completely eliminates standing waves, improves performance and reduces any tendency for rasp.

My friend, be careful what you wish for. My Z with test pipes, XYZ pipe with resonator, and single megaphone exhaust is very loud. I can't imagine it with the straight pipe. The vids I posted were this set-up with STOCK cats. It is MUCH louder now with the test pipes.
