Exclamation Custom exhaust tips, any1 other then sgm's 2 cars with somethin diff? unique?

so Ive had my z for over a month now. put a jwt pop charger, hotchiks sway bars and bought an SRS 3" exhaust off ebay....yah yah ebay sucks w/e welds look great and sounds even better. but here is where i run into my problem. ive always had a thing for something DIFFERENT not out of wack just something to separate you from the rest (seeing as how there is so many damn Zs where i live) and i have noticed threw searching that most people go with the same damn look as the next guy. either the HKS style exhaust w the burnt tips. or the basic rolled tip(which look very simular to stock) w a borla/magnaflow muff or a canister exhaust. i cant seem to find any pictures of anyone who fell out of the standard looking rear end. EXCEPT for those on the SG motorsports roaster and there koni car. which in my opinion look absolutly amazing.

anyone ever consider doing something different? maybe a SLIGHT turndown style tip?(ill post examples when i get off work) or side angle pipes like SGs roadster? or even just straight out pipes right off the muffler....

post up pics (if u can locate them) of anything different then the ordinary on our cars.

i have been looking into removing mine and welding on something out of the ordinary.

opinions?

Saclam makes a really different sounding exhaust. the tips are the only weird thing on it. the rest of it is pretty normal. but it sounds awesome.

yea i was a little turned off by the huge 5" conical tip but I still got it because its different than other exhausts. I was actually thinking about chopping off the tip and getting a 4" conical tip welded on, but Tony said that its interchangeable with their other exhausts which is fukin awesome because you can switch between 3 different exhausts in 5 mins. Their exhaust setup is the only one I know of that does that.

interesting lookin but not really out of the normal? its still circular small tips comming straight out w goofy looking cuts in it.

any other DIFFERENT looking exhaust or tips?

maybe i shall be the guinnee(sp) pig with this and try welding something radical on... maybe itl look like ish and maybe itll b the ish. could be a waste of money and end up regreting it. but atleast it will be something new and fresh.. i have an idea and im garbage at drawling so i wont even attempt to draw 1 up n post it. but hopefully i can make something up this weekend and try n put it together. if all else fails i can just cut it off and go back to lookin like every1 else lol

if the image in my head comes out lookin the way it does up there on the car it will look sick.

As of today there are now:

1) Shockwave))) with diffuser tip.
2) Shockwave))) with Ti tip
3) Gamma with Ti tip
4) Harakiri with Ti tip
5) VQ Dual with Ti tip

As of tomorrow there will be two new axleback options added to the list for a total of 7 axleback options.

And of course there are 4 different Ti tip options.
1) Blue Ti rolled
2) Blue Ti straight
3) Silver Ti rolled
4) Silver Ti straight

And a all new unique design of test pipes & catalytic converters are in the works right now.

When all the options of MD test pipes, XYZ modules, midpipes, axle backs and tips are combined in all the possible combinations the number of exhaust possibilities literally goes exponential!

Nobody needs to have a cookie cutter exhaust anymore.

I never liked the look of the Shockwave))) diffuser tip looking at pictures, but bought it for it's performance. Now that I have it on the car, I actually really like the way it looks. Photo's just are different than a real walk around.

Of course, I still like the tips on the stock exhaust.

you gotta spend some bills to get anything that will compare with the SG motorsport exhaust. Especially with that much R&D. If you want something just for looks, you might as well go the custom route. That way you can make it look how ever you want.

a turndown muffler out the back of the koni challenge car and 2 anglecut stainless steel pipes into 1 3" in collector back to the Y pipe is a lot of R&D? im not talking about the actual exhaust. just the look comming off the rear end. i know all about there company and header design n how much research sasha n those dudes do n wat not.. im just talking about doing something different then every1 else simular to what they did as far as rear mufflers or tips. i mean even ppl who go with a custom exhaust still do the same ol tips and rear end look.

Think of it this way. You are saying that you want to have something unique, that other people don't have. So you ask a bunch of folks if they have considered something different?

If something was being manufactured and sold, then it would mean that there is enough demand for it to make it worthwhile. This would mean that a whole bunch of folks would have it and it would no longer be unique.

Think of it another way... you asked if we have considered something truly unique. There is some general agreement as to what is aesthetically pleasing. That is why most of the tips look somewhat alike. Most of us never considered using anything that we considered ugly.

So, it looks to me that if you want to come up with a truly unique look, you are going to have to design it yourself and have it made. Fair warning however, if you come up with something that is really good, you'll have a bunch of folks emulating you and you won't be unique any longer.

its hard to make a unique exhaust tip because the only thing that goes with our cars is round tips. It would look retarded if someone put square tips on the exhaust. Most people don't like the dual tip setup like in the pics above either because it doesnt really go with the rest of car. You're really limited to what kind of tips you can put on the Z, and plus if you do create some crazy tip it may not fit on the exhaust properly

haha this is very true but i just wanted to ask really incase my searches were simply not good enough. also as a way to get some ideas for myself to base an opinion on what might look good n what wont. but i see that it is odd to see a Z w something simular to the above pics . this is the reply i have been waiting for and we shall see what i come up with. ill post pictures of what i end up with( horrible or amazing). And hell if ppl do end up copying what i do atleast I kno it was my idea haha.. been talking to a couple different places round here on this n i should conjur up somethin by the end of the weekend.

Quick Reply: Custom exhaust tips, any1 other then sgm's 2 cars with somethin diff? unique?
