according to their dyno graph, the crawford headers dont make significant power until after ~5500

Which is where our car needs it the most.

Did you happen to notice the torque from 3k-4k?

I really tried to stay out of this thread, but as a firm believer in high flow cats I though I would copy and paste the below out of another thread of mine.......

The long awaited results are in. First off we need to use this as a learning tool. I don't want to debate the accuracy of the dyno (dyno pac) just show the gains using the same dyno. I know this dyno sucks and will join the So.Cal Dyno day and get some real numbers later. As I said, this will show what some of the mod will do for our cars. So here goes.

Bone Stock with 40 miles on the odometer:
Peak was at 6000rpm 232hp and 227.1 tq

Next was CAI, Headers and Cams. No exhaust mods at all past the headers:
Peak was at 5500rpm 249hp and 237.7 tq

Last we added the High Flow Cat's and Nismo Exhaust:
Peak was at 6500rpm 268hp and 252.2 tq

Talking Thanks Jeff!

Jeff,

Thanks for sharing the results. Was there any reason you installed and dynoed in that order? I can understand doing the headers and cams, It would save on the labor hours. Was that the reason or thinking behind it?

The dyno numbers look good. The baseline looks like what we are getting up here in nor cal on the dyno jets

Jeff,

Exactly my point! Once the cams are in... headers back are a MINIMUM requirement. You'll see cats and an aftermarket exhaust shine at this point.

btw... thanks for those R-TUNE pads... they rocked at Roebling Road!

Good info Jeff!

I still think thought he only way for us to know what is making the gain, be it the header or high flow cats, is to do the dynos one at a time...its pricey I realize, and very time consuming, but at least then we can get a better handle on what is doing what.

Mod's - is there any way to consolidate the dyno charts on the site someplace - some sort of categorization maybe?

I have been looking for threads with various header sheets so i can try to compare apples to apples, but have not come across too many yet.

If you need help with it, let me know!

I believe they were NISMO cams/Headers, Random Tech Cats. Jeff correct me if I am wrong.

On our race car .....we switched from the Nismo headers to the XERD long tube headers and I dont care what anyone says...........we are making alot more torque than before. If someone wants to leave the cats in then def go with the Crawford headers.
If not.........The XERD are the way to go in my opinion.

I was told by one of the Nissan engineers that the intake and exhaust were the big hold up on the power of our cars. Since everyone seems to do exhaust mod's first, I went backward to prove that the exhaust chocked our cars power. I wanted to take my time and dyno each mod, but I'm still running around in circles trying to get this car ready for SEMA. As we seem to be doing more mods daily around my store, I may start asking my customers to let me dyno their cars after some of the mod's.

The parts are all Nismo and the Cat's are Random Tech which I am a distributor for.

I also like long tube headers and can see the advantage, but that just isn't an option in Calif. Even though changing your cat's is illegal in most states, my car passed the Calif smog sniffer test with plenty of room to spare.
