header is not a best for a bang mod for 350z, you are better of with HFC.
expect to spend long time for install, mutiply by two!!!
There is DIY how to here somewhere, it isn't too hard just bolt off and on. Hardest part is fitting your tool

I would not buy headers if I were you. But I am not you, silly me.

massive waste of time and effort as a beginning mod.

A lot of work for not that much return!!!...it might sound better but you won't feel a difference. While you spend that much time doing that you mind as well instal a F/I setup!

Use some WD-40 on the steering knuckle when you do the drivers side and wedge the openings as much as you can so you can slide it out. That is the hardest part.

Loosen up the Motor mount nut(bottom side) so that you have a little movement in the engine and can push it side/side and get another 1/2" of clearance or so.

Get a 14mm Combination/Open-ended wrench with a ratchet option, something like this:
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...2509_200392509
It will help you be able to get to the header nuts that are hard to reach.

Good luck, don't scream too loud.

The first time even I took 6 hours to do the install. It was by no means DIFFICULT....it was just lengthy because there is a lot of stuff to remove.

Thanks guys. I was told that the headers would give me better torque and better take off. I will get the exhaust (Stillen) later but for $300 which includes the headers and installed and by a Nissan Mechanic, I don't think I should let it go by.

What do you think?

Good luck im interested in the outcome. What kind of numbers are the Stillen headers supposed to give?

Edit: Found this on their site.

The STILLEN Z/G Headers are the finest available. With months invested in development work, these headers produce big increases in streetable power and torque on both naturally aspirated and forced induction vehicles.

The equal length design of the headers allows better and more efficient exhaust scavenging which contributes to the dyno tested performance gains. Examples:
- 2004 350Z produced 11.5 hp at @ 6200 RPM and 18.5-lb.ft @ 3800 RPM at the wheels
- 2008 G37 Coupe produced 14.5hp at @ 7300 RPM and 12.5 lb-ft @ 4200 RPM at the wheels

18 more TQ at 3800RPM at the wheels sounds worth it. I don't know if they have a dyno to go with it though.

I installed strups 3 months ago...

I did not notice any big gains and after dynoing last week it was proven. I have high flow cats and noticed a bigger gains with them, than when I did the headers. Headers did give it some more range in the exhaust note but it made my setup a bit rasp ( this was solved after intake and plenum mods)

my biggest tips for install is to get a good set of work gloves, (that fit well for dexterity and have some protection) remove the front bumper so you can get into the bay easier from the top, also remove both coolant pipes (you can get to the header bolts easier) and move the AC compressor out of the way.

doing these things will make the install go smoothly and will cut down on the install time. Its more steps but you will waste time trying to work around these objects.

I did it for my first time and it took about 8 hours, one thing that took me awhile was because I replaced the rear coolant pipe which was a btch.

I don't recommend this mod if you are looking for power, I did it because I got a cheap set of headers and I love working on my car. I think headers will only make power with the appropriate cams.

Thats too bad I thought Strup headers were supposed to have some of the best gains out there.

^ Phrasing a sentence with numbers thrown in here and there can easily make people misunderstand the gains. Take a look at these two pre/post dyno testing of the Stillen header install. That being said even the numbers given by stillen are very optimistic.

I actually did notice it climbing faster from 60-100 but the headers are not going to give you the gains to warrant the price. At least not on a bolt on VQ. I plan on cams and later a built block so doing headers early wasn't a bad Idea.

fitted fujitsubo headers with other mods and they do make a difference but only with a tune... Sound good too!

At present am running uk 276hp at the hubs (think that works out to be about 285 in the US)
